More of the same? caddy grill

I need a positive answer here... Im probably buying a black 02 avalanche, but I dont like the grill, and I dont want to paint it all to match nor do I want to loose the 3/4ton bumper(ei. the air intake)
So....
basicly could I take the headlights and GRILL from 'this'

and put them on 'this'

or do I have to take the hood too?
 
you will need the whole front clip. this includes the fenders, hood, grille, lights, and bumper.
checkout the link in my signature at the bottom of the screen, "Avalanche Pics". in it you will see an AV that has had this done to it. very extensive work was put into this vehicle.
notice the hood lines... they are not that of the AV.

Several have asked and the answer is you have to change fenders, hood, and all front end stuff.......

they do not look that different. i even thought the WBH and Cladded were not all that different either. it wasn't until i saw them parked next to each other at the dealer to see the difference between the two. the similarites to the Caddy and the WBH would be closer than the Cladded.
one of the main areas you need to pay attention to is the hood and fender angles near the headlights. more of an angle on the AV; Caddy has more curves. the lights would not be inter-changeable for this reason.
 
Does that Av with the Ext clip have 2 different kinds of rims on it. The angle of the driver side looks different than the passenger side.

yes it does. that caught my attention as well. one set are regular wheels. the other are spinners.
 
Hey, thats what I'm planning on doing to my '04 WBH. Every thing I've looked at so far is direct re-placible parts, sept the fenders. They only need to be cut. I think I'll be going down the GMC denali route now though the more I look into it. Nobody has one!

That would look pretty nice... but you would still need the whole front clip.

not sure what style the spinners are. nothing a little research can't answer. i noticed the other day this vehicle is up for bid again on ebay in AV section. maybe you can email the owner about wheels.

??? It looks like you might be able to change just the grill portion. I do know if you want headlights and grill you have to swap it all. Saw an interseting aritcle last month where they swappy Caddy front end to a Astrovan.
 
I can tell you for sure that the grilles are not swapable on cadillac to Chev or GMC, They use different hoods for each plus holes to recieve the clips are different between them. Even though the escalade has a similar front end the lines of the hood and fender are different as well as the head lights. The only common thing is the frame and radiator support. For a change to a different grille or anything using stock you have to have the same front end sheet metal for it all or it will look funny. The WBH and cladded av have different hoods and fenders too. Fo thoses WBH owners this is the exact same front end as the silverado.

Sorry To Burst Your Bubble But I think a lot of us already saw the GMC Version of the Avalanche, but hey there can always be 2 of them.
 
The AV/EXT pictures posted by 02-Z66 do not have EXT fenders. You can tell by the lines of the fender bulge that they are Av fenders. Also, the Av cladding behind the wheel is 100% Av cladding, not EXT. That piece of cladding wouldn't fit on an EXT fender.

Now some serious work went in to make those fenders work with the EXT hood/grill/lights. And it looks good.

But...I just don't understand this mod. Why put a Cadi front end on an Av? If you want an EXT, save for it and buy...

with the money that went into that AV i might have to agree with you on that one. i think the starting bid for that truck when i first saw it was around $55K. :eek: definitely would have gotten the Escalade when your talkin' that kinda money. especially the cheesy AV i posted awhile back with the bad two tone paint job. it was a WBH they were asking $49k for. ??? on the inside all it had was leather, Denali woodgrain, and that's about it.
