I was driving around...and saw my Blaupunkt tweeter hangin from the wire within the front passenger door panel.

I removed panel and looked....The stock tweeter mounting piece had the plastic mounting bolt thingys break off.....SO time to move them....

So I moved them up front above dashboard on the A pillar trim piece......

MUCH better sound now.....was not that hard and had enough wire....

Lesson learned for me is....with components...mount the tweeter at A piller up high above door panel for best stereo imaging and sound....

pics!!!!! please ;D

I agree on he position... sounds you placed them where they are on the Bose system (y)

I'll third this.... pics please.

Next week.....someone is borrowing my camera......

Been thinking about moving my tweeters up a bit too. They are sitting a bit low in my taste. Would not mind seeing some pics of how you mounted them. I was contemplating making some type of pod on the trim piece to house mine in. Guess its time to bust out the fleece and fiber glass resin again ...

...are you SURE your name is not DRAGONSLAYER!!! ;) ;D

Lets not resort to calling each other names here ... ehehhee ... We have more important tasks at hand .. such as these pictures ... I'm tempted sending you a one time use camera just so the rest of us don't have to wait because SOMEONE lent out the camera .. tsk tsk ... ;D

All right I got the camera back...give me a bit

Here they are:

More at my website which is the little globe thingy under my name or link in my siggy....

Drilled a hole? I'm not that brave. Looks great. How about those tweets in the rear doors? How are the attached? Did you drill those too? Finally, how do you like those Blaupunkts? I was considering the see-through ones and using some lighting behind them before I got my Soundstreams.

the rears have 2 holes one for wires..other for small screw...no big deal...but permanently have holes...

the front...was no problem....Drill hole and carve until they fit snug....I lost my surface mount wedges...hence Why I had to use the angle hole mount ones..

they are PCCI 650 or something...had them for over 2 years...better then stock....but they do lask some low tones..and do strain when thumping....

I got them real cheap...Less then $100 for 2 pairs...SO I am not complaining....

Do you have an amp on them? If not, go and get a 50 or 60 watt/ch amp and the bass will liven up!
No amp.....I am too cheap right now....Probably later....

I have been looking for a low cost 4 channel 40-60w/channel amp...that must fit inside dash somewhere....

I already ripped out the stock De-Amplifier doohickey....so ...I will continue to hunt...and probably buy it for myself this Xmas.....

In lack of originality .. yeah, what they said!!!! ;D Looks very good!! How did the relocation affect the sound stage?? I'm guessing the highs sounds tons better.

I've heard that if you direct the tweeters toward the windshield it will sound better. Any installer guru's want to clarify this?

Looks good ygmn.

Nice job YGMN!

I guess the '02s dont have the tweeters in the a pillar? On the '03/'04s there are there right??

I would stay away from pointing them at the windshield. Reason being is that you would be aiming a highly directional tweeter at a totally reflective glass sheet, which in turn leaves the listener hearing reflections, which are bad in the mobile environment. From messing with a set in the Av, I've had the most success placing them about 8" above the dash and following the rake of the windshield with them. Depending upon your listening position and size, your mileage will vary on the mounting location, of course.

After a long few days of driving....IT was well worth it....much better sound and stereo imaging....

For those with components and the tweeter in the door...I suggest ya move em up to the pillar...

Either drill hole like I did...which is fun....hehehe or surface mount,,,,

Thanks for the info DS. I wonder how it would sound by adding another set of tweets in the pillar. One in the door and one in the pillar.

Do you know what size Tweeters I would need if I wanted to replace the factory ones in a 2004...I guess they are located in the pillars at the front window.

Also what would u recommend for the best...
