I have the Huskys on mine, it's cladded, lifted and has bigger tires. They are similar to the weather tech in design except you have to screw them into the truck, they don't use existing holes. The only mod to them is I had to dremel off the lip on the bottom edge so there is no chance they would get caught on the tires when they turn. Did all 4 so they match. You can see the lip in rick119's third pic down. It's been a snowy winter here and all four are still there and securely attached.

I used a set of Weathertech flaps on my 08 LT. No additional holes to drill and fit nicely. I dont know if they will fit the Z71s as I dont know the difference. IIRC they were around $70 or so for all 4. I like the look of the painted flaps some of you did   (y)

Did they ever make the front flaps for 2007-2013 Z71 models?

Tom
I don't remember seeing them on 2007 to 2013 Z71 AVs since they came with fender flares and side tube steps which had a black plastic trim piece that was near the frame rails and end of tubes. Not sure if these photos will show the small space between fender flares and the trim or not.....

Thanks Vaeagleav,

A big part of me definitely wishes I had not sold my 2006 bermuda blue baby. However, I am beginning to move on and starting to mod the used 2013 LTZ I bought. Thus far, I have added Corsa sport exhaust, K&N, and BFG AT KO2's...plus the Diablo tune. In addition, I put on GM chrome nerf bars. I definitely wish it had more than a 3.08 rear, but it is beginning to look, feel, and sound less like an anemic family car, but still smooth enough and quiet enough for my bride-to-be.

Next, I decided to add the Z71 flares. However, I discovered that they were not really designed for the LTZ front end. So...I got a front bumper cover and am now ordering some more things that go with it. I have some Z71-specific questions for you Vaeagleav:

1) Looking at the pics above, you added an aftermarket front guard. Does that replace or supplement the factory skid plate. What is the factory skid plate made of, by the way.

2) It looks like the Z71 has some kind of plastic piece in front of the nerf bar. However, I do not have that since mine are just standard old  nerf bars. Others have posted that there are problems with the front mud flaps not working with Z71 flares. Is that due to the plastic piece? Do you think that will still be a problem for me?

3) There is some kind of little black plastic piece behind the rear wheels attached to the flares? What is that? Is it part of the wheel well liner? Could you please take some pics of how that attaches? I looked in exploded part diagrams and do not see it anywhere.

4) I know GM makes the rear flaps for Z71, but not the front. Since I do not have the plastic in front of my older nerf bars, do you think I could get away with using a set of the GM rear flaps in the front also?

Thanks,

Tom

Don't forget if you ordered a Z71 front cover you will need to get the Z71 fog lights too since they vary from the LTZ. Also I think someone tried to put a Z71 front bumper on a standard AV and the discovered it would not sit right unless you also used the Z71 fender flares.....
1. The bar I got comes either powder-coated black steel, chrome plated steel and stainless steel, I went with stainless steel. The "bull bar" has nothing to do with the skid plate which is underneath the AV. It mounts to the tow hook mounting points and is just supplemental. I think the factory skid plate is made of Aluminum.

2. The second gen step bars are wider and stick out more then the first gen more round tubes. Each end of the tubes have a curved plastic end that goes into holes in the backing trim plate that mounts to the frame rail on the AV.That backing plate is in several parts and runs from front wheel well outer edge to rear wheel well outer edge.

3. That plastic piece in your photo is held on by the screws holding on the fender flare and maybe some double sided tape but is not part of fender well liner or fender flare. I would assume it's part of the frame rail black trim if it's sold as a kit....v. the tube step parts diagram might not have those parts listed.

4.I can't answer if rear flaps would fit front since you are blending parts. Again another assumption on my part there is not much need for mud flaps when second gen Z71 bars, black trim pieces and Z71 flares are used together as intended by GM.

Thank you. Yes...I ordered the square lights, bumper fillers, silver piece that attaches to the bumper, mount brace, and little front deflectors.

My garage is tight, so hopefully the flares don't make it too wide. My plan is to paint the silver piece black so it looks more like a modded custom front end. Unfortunately, here in TX they require a front plate, so I have to install that. I may try to pain the bracket also.

Weathertech and Husky both make mud flaps, but I am hoping to be able to make some Chevy ones work.
