Lookin good Lorinser!

How were you getting the U.S. Open? Just through normal antenna?

While were on the topic - Anyone know about getting satellite/direct TV in a vehicle?
That would be nice to have 100 channels to surf around...

Very Clean Install!

What's the power rating of your amp? It looks huge in the picture!

Nice clean install, looks just like my 911. Just installed the headrest monitors this weekend, installing dual channel IR headphones next weekend, then I may start on the speaker and amp aquisitions.

BTW, where did you go thru the firewall for your amp power and what gauge did you run?(4?)

Awesome setup and install.

I used to have Mb Quart speakers in one of my Mustangs. They're great speakers.

I would be willing to bet he chose Sirius for the same reason I did, that's what Kenwood Excelon is compatible with.

But, can I ask why you chose Sirrus over XM? ?Just curious is all as I have heard many stories on both sides of the fence.

Well I don't have either one but the research I have done told me that Sirius uses 3 satellites vs. XM's 1 sateliite. XM relies heavily on repeaters to distribute the signal.

When i do get this service, it will be Sirius. FWIW

Didnt have a choice on the Sat. radio feature. Kenwood uses Sirius for the add on boxes. If I had a choice I would go with Sirius as well, they are 100% commercial free and thus far the signal has never dropped.

On the four gauge install... look under the drivers side dash and you will see a small box that is a relay junction point. Pop the cover off and remove the 10 mil bolt and pull the side clips and you can move the box. There is a nice blank spot you can drilll through to run any size power wire you want. Just make sure to debur the hole and properly seal it.

Thanks for the compliments!

I'm still real curious about this guys? ???

I think he had a DVD on. The screen was showing DVD as source.

As far as satellite TV, I think you could the systems they use for motorhomes but as far as I know, the technology to have this while moving is not there yet. If you are camping or parked, sure. At little dish on a tripod. Moving....don't think the technology is there. correct me if i am wrong.

They do make a rotating disk contained inside a large white bubble that goes on top of RV's that can receive while moving. Not sure how good the quality is or how much of a fade you would get when turning.

I think it may use some sort of specific GPS technology.

Nice setup, Lorinser. (y)

Some companies are selling the Motosat domes, but you're right, you need to be parked for them to work. The prices are a bit steep too. A dish that tracks the DirecTV sat in 45 seconds starts at around $1200. The dome is kinda big too -- a little over a foot tall, and about 2 1/2 feet wide.

ZimmsAV, The KVT-911DVD also has a TV tuner built in, and comes with amplified diversity anntennas. It's not easy to find a good place to mount these in the AV, My unit receives signal, but where I installed my anntennas wasn't the greatest, so my picture is horible when the truck is moving.

Lorinser, do you know of anyone who has installed the KDS-P900/901 and the Kenwood center channel speaker/amp? I am very interested in getting these, just looking for an opinion of someone who actually has it.

Thanks

We have done a couple of Escalades with the Kenwood center channels. You need to use the 5.1 box to get the effects of the speaker and I think its a worthwhile upgrade. I get Kenwood products at 12% over cost so if you are looking for one let me know.
On the antenna reception I think a lot has to do with the vehicle electronics and the tint on the glass. I didnt try the antennas anywhere other than the windshield. My reception is ok , on some of the spanish channels it comes in as good as a DVD.
On a Excurision we did with the first gen Kenwood vz901 it gets perfect reception! I think the Av might have a metallic coating on the glass. I know if you tint any of the new Mercedes cars with TI film the radio will no longer recieve a signal.
