Yes that's right my purchase of a brand new '02 Av made enough people at work despise me that they eventually got me fired. Here's how the story goes.

I got out of college from Clemson in 3 years and was turned down from MUSC b/c i was too young and then the next year they said they were looking for females...so I'm still upset about that. So I got a job working a bank for alittle while. During which i took an EMT-basic class, and applied for a few jobs in EMS figuring that working EMS would help me get into med school. I interviewed with Dorchester County EMS and was hired on. At the time i guess they figured I'd be poor having to save all my money for school and all that. Well I lived at home but needed something besides a motorcycle to tote all the gear they gave me back and forth to work. So i looked at used z-71 silverados and was impressed at how well they held their values. So with those used one's costing so much I thought i might as well get a new silverado. When looking at the price of the ext cab z-71's, I saw that the Av wasn't all that much more and had gradually fallen in love with it. So i looked into getting one. I found the one I got online when searching dealerships in the area. Any how after i bought it and took it to work. I began hearing lots of little sharp comments about how could i get one being that i was a brand new basic and they had been paramedics for years. Plus some people actually tried to make me feel bad about living at home. This is when some of the paramedics began lodging complaints against me with the head of the dept. The paramedics would smile and act like everything was fine but as soon as our shift was over they would head to HQ and file complaints. These complaints were baseless and fictional. They also was alot of communication btwn the supervisers, one which owned an AV and was mad b/c he had bought his as a status thing and had showed it off to the others, and hate and discontent were spread against me. I did have some paramedics that were my friends and let me know ahead of time was was going on, but little did i know what these hateful people were capable of. The final straw and the incident that was sited as why i was terminated was a wreck where the paramedic ordered me not to get into the car. He stated that he'd take care of the patient and for me to be a gopher and get things. the head of the dept was there and did not know i was ordered to not be in car. The head of the dept did not ask me anything about this call before deciding to fire me. So they are getting a few nice suprises. Every complaint and incident that was listed against me, was an incident of me listening to my paramedic who is in charge of me, higher ranking than me. So I'm going to file a complaint with the county administrater and a lawsuit against them for wrongful termination...shame on them...and maybe they will learn to clean up their acts, But atleast know i don't have to work with a bunch of adults that act lik kindergarteners...actually I don't wanna insult school aged children...b/c my nephew and niece are in elementary school and act much more mature.

Yes, doesn't surprise me. I had close friend who was an EMT. She worked in a very tight knit group I guess from working together all those hours together and involved in life saving situations. They all want to be equals at work as well as away.

That is crazy! I'm in the military and have had a few people ask me if I signed up for the double paycheck option when I enlisted. However, these comments were all in fun and never held any value.

I know this at first seems like an utterly stupid thing that "mature" adults could never be capable of, but I wouldn't put it past several people I know personally. Of course, I am just going on 17 and don't have an Av myself (or any car for that matter :p), but if something like that was happening to me because a group of others is jealous, tough, I'd fight back with full force.

I hope you sue the living daylights off of those idiots, and come out on top in the end. I'm not one for being "sue crazy", but when peopel act like this, you have to go the whole way.

Just think of it this way. You got fired because people who made more money than you were jealous they couldn't manage their finances as well as you can. Sure, living at home is a big help, but what is it anyone's business? Get them and get them good! (y) (y)
