Today I stopped into a body/paint shop to talk about some future mods and when I opened the hood, I noticed some damage.  I have a small crack in my hood (Right under the driver-side toward the front).  I didn?t see it when I checked the AV over during pickup, which leads me to believe it happened after.  I?ll take pix tomorrow. :needhug:

It can but because it?s fiberglass it will still have a week spot where the crack is.  I?m thinking around 500 because I?ll have to get it repainted.

Ouch...hope you get it fixed and it doesn't cost you too much.

Loggie,

You should still be able to claim it. I know you have so many days to do so.

Hope you get her going again soon.

I'm going to try but I think I have to go though my INS company now and not the base, but I'll look into it.

I always worry about that with my hood too. I hope it all turns out ok. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about that too Loggie.  That sucks! Hope they take care of soon.

Well wouldn?t you believe it if I told ya. I found more damage to the AV. :8: :C:
? The first pix is of the hood and the second picture shows damage on the pipes. Now this really stinks because I never would have to thing to look under the truck for damage.?

Also,

When I stopped to wash the AV today my passenger side mirror broke.? That?s right, it broke.? I went to push it in and the dang thing just snapped. You couldn?t tell it was even damaged until you drove.? The wind would push it into the window.? So with this new development, I immediately drove to the dealership and bought I new one.? Had it installed within an hour.

...and don't even ask about my? :7: 57" big screen TV....Lets just say I'll be claiming it now that it's not working?

I?m going to call the shipping place in the morning to see what can be done.  I?m afraid not much so I?m sure I?ll be contacting USAA.

Tell me about it. ?I'm going to fight this with them and see what happens. ?I might have to get base legal involved too.

I have USAA myself and they have always been great to deal with. Hope you dont have to use your insurance.

Just got off the phone with them and told them the story.  They recommended I open a claim so my AV can get fixed and to worry about collecting from the shipping company later.  She said it could take weeks to settle with them.  I still plan to get a hold of base legal and see what I can do thought them.  I just don?t think its right for these big shipping companies to get off scot-free after doing damage to ones ride.

And again, I know I should have looked at it closer but who?d thought to get on ones hands and knees and look under the rear or the hood nerveless.

More to come

The shipping companies get away with that all the time- i ended up just eating my repairs and furniture damages-even though i caught it and noted everything as it was delivered, they refused to acknowledge any of it and suing them would have cost more than the repair bill.
Hopefully, your base legal people can help you.

Man, That just sucks Loggie.  :E:
I could tell you lots of horror stories from all my moves when I was in.
Out of all of them only one was nearly problem free.

Hope you get everything taken care of.

I know thats probably not the way you really wanted it to go but I am glad your getting the AV fixed. Also makes me glad I am with USAA.

Took the AV in the shop today and got an estimate.  Looks like around $1100 (only $250 for me) when all said and done.  This includes the side mirror too for which I already paid for but will get my $$$ back from the INS Co :D .

As for the work on the hood.  They will fix not only the crack but all the rock chips along the front edge and where the ram air is too.  Then they are going to repaint it on both sides.  Also the will replace the tips with the same ones that are on there.

I did talk to the guy about some additional work to be completed while they have it...like painting the powerbar and the engine cover. >:D

The only sad thing is, I will not get this done in time for the MCM.  Not scheduled to go into the shop until 7 May.  Bummer

good to hear you're making progress Loggie
your av is going to look awesome with the powerbar painted
