After 3 1/2 days of torcher on a business trip while my new Baby AV was at the dealership, I finally picked it up last night and I was not disappointed. I actually cut my trip by 1/2 day just to pick it up last night and boy it was worth it!! One question..... The Finance Manager and Salesman were very insistant that I do not 'waste' money getting an Alarm. They both kept pounding in my head, if someone is going to steal your truck, they are going to steal your truck no matter what type of security you have on it. ??? Feedback please and thanks to this club for all the great info!

That may be the case with their (GM) alarms.

If the alarm installer does the job correctly by hiding the brain and blending the wires in with the stock wiring....you should be safe. That being said.....removal of a major fuse from under the hood is good extra measure.

I'd be more concerned about people stealing things OUT of my Av. Check out the following thread for someone's recent experience where the alarm saved his truck when the factory alarm would not have.

CLIFFORD saves my Av

A good alarm with internal motion and shock sensors really does make the stock system look fairly cheap in comparison.

The benifit about the aftermarket alarm systems is the thief has to find where you have and if you have it. If you consider one thing that they have in mind, it's time to do thier thing.
Consistant installation location and methods are readily learned by thieves.
So keep the factory system (may make them believe that's all you have), but do something unique also!

I have a question, When I got my AV it came with an alarm. There was no additional charge for it. However, it had a dealer alarm also installed on it. I was to take it back for them to take out. This one killed the ignition. Even if you had the key, you still couldn't start it. You need to disarm it with the key lob.
When I took it back they let me keep it because they were, so I was told, changing alarm companies and didn't want to hassel with it. Who am I argue about with thatand it was worth 250.00
From what you all are saying about aftermarket alarms, would this be considered better than stock?

Sounrs like you got a deal because the dealer didn't want to take the time to disconnect the alarm. Every little bit helps. If someone wants to save money it is pretty easy to put a cutoff switch somewhere,(like under the seat, etc.) that opens up the circuit to the fuel pump. Doensn't cost hardly anything and will baffle most theives because they don't know why the vehicle won't start and will not waste any more time to find out. Herb

Great news on the new Avy garcia88us (y) . As for the question above....I know of 4 members from El Paso on this board (one being you)..and HALF of us have lost their Avalanches to car thieves. I agree with the last part of quote above, but I would still do something (anything) extra, just to slow them down or make them move on to another vehicle.

Good luck,
Chris (WTA)

The best alarm for the AV is a baseball bat....

Catch them stealing it then make them lick the tires clean

Honestly - I installed a VIPER with a keychain monitor.

So now I can actually see what part of the truck they break into before they steal it.

It also talks....not as much as my wife though!

You have a EMAIL coming your way PLease give me a call and we can meet.
I will let you see that I have done. I am like my system and I think that a person that wants my truck is going to get it no matter what. BUT with that said I am not going to make it easy for him or her. I have seen and heard that AVs in this town are taken and there are little to NO Alarms on them.
So I want the Car thiefs to look at my truck and move away to a truck that is easy to get not have to work for a AV.

I'm sold. I've been eyeing the Clifford Alarm for about a month now. I've got the Master Lock "club"-style steering wheel lock to make it harder to get, but I just needed another reason to add to my AV.
