Today, despite a skin infection in my right leg (it looks like elephantitis!), a couple bruised ribs (the origin of these were an injury I prefer not to discuss -- lets just say it was a dumb accident!) and lots of "assistance" from my two youngest boys (can't really call it "help"), I have finally completed my first mod!!! ;D

   My Av now has LED Sail Panel Screws!!!

I wired them to the turn signals (from the trailer light wire loom). I also painted them red so they stand out even in the daylight. They look GREAT.

I'm only slightly dissapointed in that, one set of LEDs appear to be a bit dimmer than the rest.

Sorry, the pics didn't come out too well.

Congrat's on your first mod, their is no stopping you now >:D

congrats on the LED's, Wood worker was telling us you weren't in the best of health this weekend, sorry you couldn't have come yesterday to our little GTG, but there will be more, get healthy and we will meet you soon-WVBubba

I'm leaving town today for Mobile, AL, can't wait to see your handy work when I return!!! By the way, you and the family would have had a great time at Bubba's. They really know how to feed thier workers!

Sorry but by the subject of this thread you know I have to ask this quesiton:

What is a "REAL" mod?

Isn't every mod a "REAL" mod? >:D

Stackrat--

If you used the license plate bolt leds - I found that there were two (2) different ones made-- even tho they look exactly the same. One was not near as bright as the next. I had 4 of each installed and it looked like heck. I bought more until I had them all the same and returned the dim ones to the store (Autozone).

Interesting! I didn't look that closely at them. The packaging was the same so I just figured the contents would as well. I also got mine from Autozone.

Strobin: I didn't count the Amber DRLs as a "real mod." To me, two minutes in the Autozone parking lot just doen't count as "real." The sail panel light too some work.

BTW folks, I made a big mistake. I saw someone here put their EZ-Pass thingie in the upper cross panel (the one with the third brake light). Since I don't use it often (now that I relocated to rural Ohio), I figured I would do that too. Well, it seems that there's a battery in there and the damn thing must have died within the last couple months! So, (since I was 400 miles away from my toolbox), there I was in the parking lot of Home Depot taking apart my truck so I could get the serial number and call EZPass for a replacement!!! Rumor has it that the batteries only last about 5-years or so.

Yes, I think it was our good buddy in Arvada, CO Gadget that showed that mounting location. We had a batch of Transponders issued in 98 or 99 that have been recalled in the last 18 months.

It seems like the company is in the Albany/Schenectady area. My first unit was replaced directly by them. No notice, the replacement was in the mail box. The other unit from the 2nd car started missing and I was getting dinged from the Toll Road folks. They remitted when they realized which unit I had.

I do not know about the battery life. The new units have a different shape, smaller size, and rounded corners.
