? ? ????Ok, here?s my problem?I have a 03 NFE Avalanche w/ 5.3 and every once in a blue moon my gauges will quit working. Sometimes all I have to do is barely tighten my battery cable and they work again, other times I just have to wait for them to work. Has anyone else had this problem? Or have an idea on how to solve the riddle? My battery is fine, my fuses are fine, I have checked my battery cables, and most of my wires. Please help!

Thanks? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?:cuss:? ? ?:E:

Had a similar prob on my '02.  Cluster sometimes would lite up like a christmas tree, then go out...blank...nada :E:  I was thinkin' "WHOA, big expense"...Someone on the site suggested replacing the ignition switch on the steering column.  Well, since it was out of warranty, I opted for the $175.00 a local shop quoted to do the job.  Of course they wanted to diagnose the prob themselves, but I told the owner, please just replace the switch and if it doesn't work, I'm the boob.

Well, it solved the problem, and cost about $200.00 less than the dealer price.

Go ahead replace the switch and you should be good to go.

I have a 2004 WBH and i just had it replaced under EZ care warranty. My tach didnt work 1st and then one road trip i just kept going faster and faster while i was doin 60.... Before you knew it i was @ 140mph (yea... i know)

They told it was a short, and i also noticed i actually got worse gas milege for the time my cluster was out of order.  I want to replace it with an SS cluster but i figured they wouldnt anyway because they have to go by the VIN #.

my ignition switch is fine......  theres no problem there,  my gauges light up and my digital dispay works, but the needles don't work.

The power for the gauges goes through the ignition switch. The truck will start fine, just the gauges will act up.  As the problem gets worse, the transmission will not shift properly. The power for the TCM also goes through the ignition switch.

My gauge cluster the speedo needle would "tick" also one time the speedo needle was stuck on 0.  Probably the whole speedo cluster needs to be replaced.  I posted this on here before and someone said there was a problem with a lot of speedo clusters on '03s.

I have an 03' and had to have my cluster replaced for the stepper motor on the speedometer. Hard to believe that more than one stepper motor would go out at the same time.
