Just bought my first avalanche(2002 Z71 4X4) and am now needing tires (265/70/17) on it and was wanting some advise from you guys that have been around with your avs for a while and what you have found to be good tires.  I live in North Carolina so Not much if any snow and so most will be highway miles and opnce in a while pullin a 21 foot boat in and out of lake once in a while.  Thanks in advance for any and all replies  and opinions. ???

For your usage, I would stick with a P-metric tire instead of an LT, better ride and mileage and less weight.  Personally I have had good luck with Cooper Tires and BF Goodrich.  I have heard good things about  the Kumho Tires as well, especially as far as pricing and ride, but have not tried them myself.  Also quite a few members  on this site use the Nitto tires and seem pleased with them.  Lots of choices out there.

go to tirerack.com or discounttire.com, you can see all tire that well fit. if i was pullin a boat or rollin down the road i would get all-terrian..  good luck on the tire hunt...

Another tire to consider is Bridgestone Dueller REVO. They're P-metric, good all year road tire. I got 47K out of them. I still had 3K miles left them before I changed them for new tires.

I have had the revos for three years and 25,000 miles and they look nearly new.  I rotate them at every 4500 miles and run them at 38psi.  They are quiet and provide very good traction.

Ditto on the Revos.... I haven them on my weekend vehicle (04 Wrangler) and could NOT be happier with them. Quite, awesome traction, great handling and good looks.
Running 265/70 R15's.

Do yourself a favor and check out the Toyo Open Country AT's  I have a set of LT/285/70R17/D's and like them better than the BFGTAKO's I had.  Snow, ice, standing water, dirt the Toyo Open Country ATs do well in all of it.
