My original plan was to keep my Z66 and around 2004-2005 buy a new Z71/NFE AV.

I've really gotten the off-roadin bug though and I'd like to follow A.J. and Conway and the rest off into the middle of nowhere... maybe never to return again.

If I can wait 1-2-3 years I can have both... the Z66 for the summers, the Z71/NFE for the winter/snow/offroad.

OR

I can trade in the Z66 and get a Z71/NFE and use it year round.

Adding to the confusion... my Z66 is no longer under factory warranty. And the exact Z71/NFE AV I want is at a dealership 5 miles away from me.

Help!

David

Seriously though, wait the two years and have both, that's what I'm doing.... >:D Remember that NFE dies with this model year though.

I really only want the NFE for the grey w/red seating, but I'm gonna katskin my Z66 anyway so would probably do the same to that one.

Hmmmm . . . Decisions, decisions. It would be nice to have both. One, for off-roading, and the other, you could keep neons on and keep it as a street machine.

On the other hand, there's no time like the present! >:D If you want to go mudding now, you'll want to be sufficiently armed with a 4x4 or Z71.

Like I said . . . decisions, decisions. >:D

I'm going to end up taking my Z66 through the mud and tearing some stuff up before too long. But who knows. :)

4x4 and offroad all the way...i'll admit I'm tempted to put the undercar led neons on my truck...but the way I offroad...they wouldn't last long...so the only neon i have is in car...and i need some more of that while I'm at it...

I've gotten quotes... I'll have it done before I get dubs.

Unless I trade it in of course... which is what the majority vote is so far.

I think the best solution for you would be to keep the Z66 and get a CJ or Cruiser for the off-roading. I have a Z71 lifted with big meats, but it still can not do most off-roading I want to do. Damn long wheelbase. Anyway, a niced use truck that costs less than $12,000 you are not going to worry about to much is always a better option for off-roading. And if you like to mod, a Cruiser, FJ or CJ gives unlimited options. I am looking for a used Cruiser right now.

IMHO

In the same condition, the 4x4 will have a higher resale value. I prefer the 4x4 because we actually use it as a truck and do go off-road with it. It is our daily driver too.

Everytime I would sell a 4x4 and go for a car (any non-4x4), it didn't take long before I regretted not having the ability to off-road.

If you want a cheap mini-tank for off-roading than go for the Sami! I have seen a bunch of killer Zuki's built bullet proof for a lot less than any other 4x4.

We don't rock crawl like we used to. Now most of our off-roading is for exploration, seeing the back country, and remote camping via 4x4. So the AV fits our needs perfectly in these areas.

This is most certainly an off-roading group. I thank everyone for their feedback.

I'm leaning towards waiting, however I might do an overnight test drive of the one I want in the next week or two and get a better look at a 4x4.

Yeah, but living here in NJ it makes sense to have both. The Z66 is great for the summer and traveling. Driving back from Pigeon Forge me and AJ stopped at the same place and got gas. I got 150 miles more on a tank of gas than he did. Plus I'd like to put some nice chrome dubs on it and they wouldn't do well in snow.

For the winter with the mountains of snow and ice and muck, a nice lifted 4x4 would be great. Plus with offroading duties, a few dents and scratches wouldn't be a big deal.

After figuring out the numbers, trading in my Z66 at this point anyway doesn't make any sense. With the drop in value minus what I owe, I'd almost be giving it away.

Now if I could find a hot chick with a 4x4 AV... THAT would be the ideal solution. >:D

I can understand your situation....I just got my gas bill for last month...$230!!! Everytime I look at it I cry  Whatever you decide...just make sure it's what you want.

Ok, that's it... I'm taking my camera and a friend (to make sure I don't buy it) to go look at it tomorrow after work and probably take it for a test drive... and a really good look-over.

Pictures to follow.
