I'd look at brakes, ujoints, cvjs, tranny fluid, and keep that oil fresh....

might want to do a search in the problem area and see what folks have been doing as preventative maintenance. ? I would look at your brakes

Welcome! I've been a lurker for a long time here, so I'll start posting some useful things!

I've had my 2002 Z66 5.3 for about two years now, putting over 60k miles on it (for a total of 80k) and the only problem area I had was with the emergency brake not working at all. This was fixed at a local GMC dealer (not the Chevrolet dealer I bought it from) for a little over $300. It took one new rear rotor and a new kit and now my e-brake works excellently. The truck is never in need of power and gets extremely good gas mileage (2WD) compared to other full-size trucks and 'utes. I usually get anywhere from 17-20mpg, depending on how fast I want to go or what I'm towing.

Other than usual fluids, filters and normal wear stuff, I don't forsee anything bad with this truck. You have chosen wisely, in my honest opinion.

I actually removed my E-brake because after I replaced all my brakes and rotors my E-brake worked great for about 1 year. Then my right rear locked up without me even using it. So i just removed all the pads and cables. I have my pedal zipped tied up for now. I am thinking about changing to a newer version in the future.

welcome to the club ramonday
those E-brakes are notorious for having problems

Thanks for the welcome, Wildfire! I actually knew about the e-brake problem before I bought my Av, but couldn't pass up the deal. I think I got a pretty good price on the e-brake fix, but it took some calling around. The prices varied from over $1000 to $300, for the same exact fix. If I've learned anything, you MUST call around. Never take the first price as the only price.

:welcome:Welcome to the club pennstateugk. You will love it here. I know I do.  I have a 03 Z-71 and the only problem I have had is that I have caught modding fever. And if you're lucky you will catch it too....................Rich
