So what are you saying are the base and loaded price for the 2007 Avy?

You give no point of reference other then saying a 2007 tahoe is $58k...

To be fair...you need to have the 2006 tahoe base price and loaded to gill price....against the 2006 Avy base and loaded price...

then make a 2007 base & Loaded price to even come close to guestimating the price of the 2007 AVY...

So info needed to make informed choice in poll is:

2006 Base Tahoe MSRP
2006 Base Avy MSRP
2006 Loaded Tahoe MSRP
2006 Loaded Avy MSRP

2007 Base Tahoe MSRP
2007 Base Tahoe MSRP

then by doing the differences in the tahoe you can then add that to the 2007 avy to be in somewhat the correct Zipcode for the 2007 avy MSRP.....

so...I can't vote in this....
I have to agree, They haven't released pricing yet, Plus the other night I went to look at the window sticker of a new Tahoe LS and it was at 34k. Granted it was a base model, but I figure if I can get what I want (Roof, XM 6 disk, buckets w/console, remote starter, homelink) for under 40k msrp I'm good with that. I don't have to have the 20's, nav, backup camera, dvd ect. How much have all of you spent on mods that wern't available before? I.E. 20's (or bigger) back up camera, nav, remote starter plus all the still aftermarket stuff. I know I spent a ton. Enkie probably has about 15K (guessing) tied up in his! ?:B:

All this pricing is nothing but pointless speculation....if you compare a 06 z71 with an 06 z71 Tahoe, the Tahoe is 3-4 k more than the Ava....so 49k for a LTZ 07 isnt so far off....just compare apples to apples

I'm not talking the 05 Sport Trac but the 07.
It has the same foundation as the latest Explorer and is now larger then the previous.
It can also now haul plywood in the bed and tow 6800 lbs, it now also has full time 4WD with 4 low.  It also now has an IRS.  For some that's great, others its ad a deal breaker.

I agree it does not offer the same capabilities as the AV.
The question is at 32,000 is it a better deal, or should I say
Is another 1200 towing, 20-30% cargo increase or the added off road capabilities worth another 3-6,000?
Do most consumers need that extra capability and are they willing to pay that mark up?

A couple of observations. First, there is a huge difference between msrp and actual purchase price. Assuming the $54K figure is correct, by mid-year, with incentives and dealer discounts you will be able to buy one for thousands less...probably in the neighborhood of $40k to $44k.

Second, this is a good indication why buying new is not always a smart decision. As soon as they sign the title over to you and the bank and it becomes a used vehicle, the value drops to about $43k before you even drive it off the lot. The best values are on low milage, 2-year old vehicles where someone else has taken the front end depreciation hit.

 :eek:Holy crap, my down payment was more than that

MSRP for my truck was $44,700 (I didn't pay nearly that much)

I think I paid $44,500 for my house. It's a big old (1923) house on a 47 acre park with a creek, has some upgrades but always needs more work, (what house doesn't), not the best neighborhood (since white trash like me moved in anyway), 5 miles to work, (I really like that), 3 bedroom, full basement, fireplace, detached 2 car garage

I plan to keep my truck longer than this house but the house costs me some in maintenance, I would buy the new Avalanche if I didn't already have the one I want. My her next truck will be wife's choice anyway.

I realize that at one point it was like comparing green back to peso but..... I have had 3 Av's and the msrp on all 3 was over 53 K Canadian .. All were almost completly loaded except the last one(05) which came in just over the 53K mark. The most expensive was my 03 which was around 55 list. The only options missing on the last one were leather and dvd...Our $ has risen 20 cents against the green back since I purchased my first Av.. With that in mind I highly doubt we will see a 20% decrease in price due to the strong Canuk buck!! Gm has lowered the price on things like vans and small cars but we have not seen a reduction in price in trucks,SUV's or high end vehicals .. And you guys think your getting fleesed  ???

Some like the assurance of OEM warranty...which has some value....
Also others Lease or go through vehicles rather quickly due to high mileage...

Buying used is for some but not all....if no one bought new there would never be used....hehehe

IMHO, I don't think Chevrolet has the reputation that is able to support strong sales of $50k Trucks/SUVs.

While it is contrary to my experience, I feel that many people believe that Chevrolet at times makes poorly built vehicles and follows that up with poor service.

For someone to spend that kind of money on a Chevrolet Truck/SUV that hasn't had a history of good experiences with Chevrolet, like I have, might be tough to accomplish.

I agree with ygmn on both his posts,

I'd still have my '02 LPM with low miles but I got a deal on a loaded truck with a new warranty at 3 years. It was the "loaded" part plus trade-in value and price that sold me.(new warranty & color made the wife agree)

$50,000.00 is more than some people should bite off, I wouldn't do it if I had a long commute and the Avalanche was going to be my regular transportation. If you need a truck for work that's different, then you have to factor in if the Avalanche will serve you and still double as a near luxury sedan.

I have a short commute and a pretty big toy that does everything I need plus some ?:B:

One thing GM needs to remember, is that while they have a loyal following for the AV like us, many do not like it.  You love it or hate it.  For instance while getting my tranny flushed the salesman at AAMCO said that if he was buying a truck he would not by an av, but a Z-71.  I said it is a Z-71 to show him his ignorance of not even knowing what that meant.  He then said, oh I mean a silverado.  I didn't argue more because the man arguing with the idiot is less intelligent than the idiot IMO.  While I love my truck, many do not, or see the point in it.  To charge that much, and expect us to carry sales, I don't think it will happen.  But, we will see.

What people tend to forget is GM has barely marketed the Avalanche, they don't market the Suburban hard either because for years they owned the market segment. The new truck is what ? 95% 'burb ? I'm unsure what other auto maker prices are in the same class vehicle, I am sure price on a new Chevy will be competitive.

Loaded Tahoes are always several thousand higher than the loaded 1500 series Av.

I am estimating a loaded LTZ Av will fall around $46k-$48k. ?About $5k more than the loaded 2003 I had, but with several options that were not available then.

That's kind of what I figured judging by the change in Tahoe pricing, then comparing that to the 06 Avalanche pricing and guestimating a similar adjustment.  I'm hoping to get a fairly well equipped LT3 or LTZ for the lower 40s.  If not I may have to wait a bit longer.  :(

2006 Base Tahoe MSRP
2006 Base Avy MSRP
2006 Loaded Tahoe MSRP
2006 Loaded Avy MSRP

2007 Base Tahoe MSRP
2007 Loaded Tahoe MSRP
...

Well I was bored waiting for phone call so I did it..
All from Chevy buypower website
All 2wd
Avy has Hard Covers & WBH for Both since 2007 does not have Cladding
Load is where I selected every option available
No Rebates, discounts nothing...straight MSRP

2006 Tahoe Base = $34,890
2006 Avalanche Base = $34,185
2007 Tahoe Base = $33,990

2006 Tahoe LT Loaded = $49,035
2006 Avalanche LT Loaded = $44,355
2007 Tahoe LTZ Loaded = $49,335

So based on that...I would expect the pricing for the 2007 Avy to be around the 2006 pricing....even though with 2007 you are getting more features for the MSRP...

2007 Tahoe Options not included in 2006 but included in the price are:
Rain Sense Wipers
Heater Washer Fluid
Rear view Camera
And others....

SO on my quick time killing experiment...2007 has great Value for the $$ spent...

I did not do 4wd...someone else can...

Yes but the Avalanche is a Utility SUV (read Suburban with the back modified to haul sh$t), not a truck, if you want a work truck buy a Silverado, they are much, much cheaper.

AMEN!

I think the 07 will be a little more than the 06.  You pay for what you get.  When my 04 finally dies and ready for pasture, I'll buy another AV.  Things change, looks change, MODDING never does.

I LOVE THE AV (regardless of year)

I'll be happy if I can get a fully loaded LTZ (minus engine block heater) for around $45k.  That's the target I'm shooting for.  Whether it's realistic or not, I don't know.  Anyone here have a clue yet?  (I believe I saw a post somewhere where someone had ordered already, so maybe someone has MSRP pricing info now?)

I paid just short of $23000 for my03 WHB Z66 after $11000 in incentives and $1500 GMcard dollars.  I felt like that was a big bargain considering what little $20000 gets a guy a car now a days.  If the 07's can be had under $27000 for a 2wd base model it still represents a decent value.  Heck the Crew Cab LS 2wd Silverados are retailing at $22900 after rebates before dealer discounts.  That's a nice buy.

I read a news story the other day on how big of a success the launch of the '07 Tahoe has been so far. They said that the '07s were priced $2000 lower than the '06s on sticker and negotiated selling prices were higher on 07s than the 06s. Who knows, could be fuzzy math, but from what I have seen on the stickers of the 07 Tahoes around here, they are priced noticably lower comparably equipped than the 06s. I believe the AV will be priced lower for 07 than it was for 06.
