got my bowtie, grill and bugshield in two days ago, being an accountant and tax season, didnt have time to get to it yesterday. well, i ask g/f to look at it to see if it had clips or screws on it and she said screws, which a few people here thinks is the wrong one for my cladded av. she also tells me that it had a few scratches and marks on it. well i didnt think much of it, but when i saw it today, this thing looks like its been in frickin WWII. I mean this was kinda ridiculous. it has about 10-15 chips in it, not to mention scratches. I called custom auto parts, but they are closed today, will they replace this? on other terms, got my bugshield on and it looks good, but then i got to the carriage works grille. i was imagining something that fit exactly over the existing grill. but this one doesnt seem to get close. i dont know how i'll ever get it close enough to bolt down without scratching up all of the front of my truck. They said it was the right one. can anyone who has this grille offer me some advice. or even tell me how many horizontal bars they have, or part number. any advice on best way to install this would be great too. amazing how hard some of these little easy things get sometimes! :E:

Hey man I'm not sure if I have the same grill you are talking about, but I hope what I have to say helps. I talked to the company that made my grill and they said if you have a BUGSHIELD then you have to cut one of the horizontal bars to make it fit corectly. I would assume that yours is the same way.

This is my grill

Don't overlook the obvious...
These parts will all be different for
cladded versus non-cladded (WBH)
models...
Bowties are different (cladded has clip pins...WBH has screws...WBH has a different size bowtie also)
Grills are totally different between cladded and WBH
So are bugshields (hood and grill on WBH are Silverado pick up truck...cladded Avs are unique)
Sounds like the "parts guy" you ordered from didn't know or care to ask!!! :3:

vawhitez66 is correct..

if you have a bug guard you must cut the top bar of the billet grille.... carriage works does not make a model to fit with the bug guard... you will have to modify the grill...

the bowtie, all billet bowties have bolts.... if it looks to be the same size... it is the right one... there is a noticable difference in the size of the bowties with cladded and WBH models...

Sorry to hear about the bowtie being a mess, hopefully they will replace it for you.

vawhitez--- thats not my grill, i'm not sure about cutting the grille either, i mean, damn, they have to make ones to fit right? but thanks for the help, maybe a cladded av driver will chime in that has the CWs grille

I CHNGE---thats why i even stressed the importance that i had a cladded av, trying to make sure i have right grille before i send it back.

any body else has this same grill?

Yep...well bowtie as well...cladded has clips...
On the grill...cladded Avs have a larger grill section below the bowtie than WBHs...so check the bottom grill piece first...

If you are talking about both models Grey, you are incorrect. I have the bugshield and my CW grill fit perfectly,no cutting. If you are talking about wBH, I don't know so I will shut up ;D :-X

Grey is correct if you ordered a billet...

edit: your post doesn't say billet one way or the other

I bought my CW billet grille from another member who removed it before adding a bugsheild as he did not want to cut it...

It may depend on the bugsheild... but I have seen a number of posts that refered to having to slice and dice to make the 2 mods fit....

talking about cladded AV....

EDIT: I may be wrong... going off memory as I do not have a bug sheild... my father installed on on his suburban... and gets more rock chips with it then he did without it....

I have an 02 CW billet grill and the stock bug shield and didn't have to cut anything. Maybe you do if you go aftermarket?? ???

well bowtie is being replaced, but they have to receive the first one before they ship out another, so that should be good week or two. i'm attempting the grille installation today, we'll see how that goes. :E:

I've got a 02 Cladded with a Lund bug shield and I did NOT have to cut anything anywhere to install a CW Billet Grill. A great fit. Before cutting anything be sure it's the right one! As noted in other posts---Paint the stock grill flat black before installing the grill, looks a lot better.

well, grille and bugshield are on, no problems, both fit and looking good, just need to get my new bowtie in and we'll be set. also got license plate and some new taillights coming in, then the 22" rims!!! ;D
