I might not be the first to have done this mod, but I haven't seen it yet!

Since I got the flag bowtie, I couldn't just leave the old gold one to collect dust. I took the POS dealer tow hitch cover and cut it so it fit inbetween the posts on the front emblem. Then I glued it with plastic epoxy, and there it is!

Lemme know what you think!

It looks great! BTW what is the POS dealer tow hitch cover? My hitch did not have any cover on it.

Most dealers give you a tow hitch cover that has their name and number on it. Free mobile advertisement for the dealership until you loose it, replace it, or just remove it and toss it in the back of the boat and forget about it! ;)

I like what you did with yours FlapJack. I have been planning on buying the flag bowtie, will have to move the OEM to the back when I do.

We have the old one from when we hit a deer it popped off. We kept it so we got a new one. Now we got a spare one and thats kinda cool. But pretty easy for someone to seal or fall off. But I might do it.

It's very easy to steal, yeah... but it's 100% stock. ?I'd be more worried about putting one of those $40 aluminum ones on (which I thought about getting) and having it get stolen.

For what it cost, I thought it was a good idea.

Total invested = $2.99 for plastic epoxy. ? :)

Very Creative. I Don't HAve A Hit Cover so I wouldn't be able to do it . . . I'm sure you can purchase one

I've seen alot of bowties as hitch covers, I don't claim that as my idea! :) I just used the front as a back emblem after I "upgraded" to the flag.

The ones you showed look flat, unlike the stock emblem....

Flapjack,

That looks great. And it's a good way to use something that might have just sat in the garage or a closet or something. Now if I can just figure out what to do with an indigo blue fuel door

BTW, you can get a lock for the hitch cover. I have one. Depending on the one you get it might be 15 or 20 dollars.

When I bought my Avalanche I got a nice rubber one that didn't have any advertise ments on it at all. ?But someone stold mine  ?People these days why can't they respect other peoples property. ?I'm actualy getting a new Avalanche on Friday hopefully. ?I hope it comes with a new hitch cover and no one steels it this time.

Flapjack that is a pretty cool idea. I'm not very creative when it comes to things like that.

spectron65 made his from extra plexiglass.
I believe he uses velcro to attach his.

he's got several colors.

he changes his everytime he turns the corner!

Next he will run a light thru the hitch for a nite glow.

Great minds think a like. ?:2: I did something similar with the stock bowtie last year as you can see below in my old sig but I switched to a chrome bowtie a while back. ?And its does have a lock on it so I know its not going anywhere. ?;)

Mark,

I used a boldt and two locking nuts to secure the rear bowtie. Not perfect, but cheap and will slow the ba3t@rd3 down!

Great idea Flapjack! :B: As soon as my flag bowtie gets here...I'll have one too. Thanks for the idea!

I'm glad everyone likes it!

I'll probably get a chrome one eventually. Right now, I'm concentrating on performance mods. I just needed something to do while I waited for the exhaust and the headers to come in.

I just got word that my Gibson Extreme Duals shipped today! Still waiting for the Edelbrock shorty headers which are on backorder. When I'm done with this tank of gas, I'll plug in the Predator!

Oh, and I shrunk it down to 640x480.... better?
Actually, the maximum width is 510 pixels. :6:

More information: Image and URL posting!

Oh, I almost forgot... Nice hitch cover, good use of surplus materials. (y)
