Has anyone seen a Yellow Av for the 2002 model year? ???I know they have them for 2003, but I wasn't aware that Yellow was available in 2002. I know you all must think I'm mistaken, but I'm not. I have it in writing from GM. Here's the scoop: (y)
Well being a GM employee (y) I tried to "tag" a GM PEP vehicle (Performance Evaluation Program) before the 0%/60 month financing ran out. When I couldn't wait any longer for a PEP notification :C:, I bought one from my local dealer in LPM :B:  at the end of august. Well I hadn't got around to cancelling my tag request and I got a notification in the mail about an Av availabilty for me :6:. I can't afford two Avs, so of course I will refuse this one and cancel my request. :6:
The notice lists it as the following:

2002 AVALANCHE 1500 4WD CHEVROLET
43U YELLOW
122 GRAPHITE CUSTOM LEATHER TRIM

It goes on to list all the options and MSRP for them, but I will paraphrase; 6-way power heated leather seats, assist steps, sunroof, convenience package, Z-71. Total MSRP of $38471. It also lists the actual VIN of the vehicle, as well as the projected vehicle availabilty date of 9-16-02 to 10-06-02. If any body cares, It is located in Michigan. Think this might have been a test case for the 2003 yellow Avs? :0:
Just thought you all might like the inside scoop. :B:

Yellow (43U) was not an available color for the 2002 AV's. It will be for the 2003's starting in January. It could be a custom paint job. What is the VIN so we can look up to see what color it was built with?

I'ts funny I had a brother living in Detroit and he would tell me that he had seen some yellow AV's I would argue with him telling him that s impossible, untill one day over here in NY I saw a yellow AV (not the 03 yellow) with black cladding and a black roof now that was 2 awssome it was parked the owner had to be a wrestling fan he had 2 frases heard often in wrestling.

True. G-xx spotted one in the area where he was working. Some have been used for advertising already.

So there are some that exist but none that have come off of the normal '03 production line ... yet ;)

Goo, is that a generally available web site that has the info for your VIN, or is a special contact that you have?

Looks like an Imola Yellow....very bright....looks nice though....you would put out quite a shine on a sunny day... :B:

I've only ever owned a few coloured cars, either white or blue. But that yellow is very catching, I may have chosen it if it was avilable sooner.

Hey Goo, I have my GM confirmation letter in front of me, The VIN is as follows: 3GNEK13T42G313263. If you want a copy of the letter I can fax it to you in a day or three. I really don't see how it can be a custom job if it is coming from GM with that code. Maybe they were doing a color test/appraisal for use in 2003. That is what the PEP program is all about. :B:

I'm around the GM plant often and they have been painting some of the 02 PEP vehicles with the 03 truck colors. I saw the arrival blue and the charcoal grey during the summer. The 03 yellow is supposed to be lighter than the vehicle in the picture.

It is very nice and I would buy it as a PEP car. That is if I didn't have this red one in the garage.

Cool! That is a 2002 and it was manufactered with 43U Yellow paint. That vehicle is a special case.

Come on Goo, or are you trying to keep things on the QT? ?Is that something we can access or not?

I am not sure if that is available online or not. I know VIN decoders are available but they usually don't give you the color. I just use one of my contacts ;)

That'd be a GREAT Av to scoop up. The rare ones are worth more to your kids when they decide to sell "dads antique".

You got that right! I plan on keeping this baby a loooong time. And the Sunset Orange is pretty rare too.
