I was also looking at purchasing a Trailblazer when I saw the Avalanche on the dealership's lot. I had heard of the Avalanche, but always noted how expensive it was. But after pricing out a fully-loaded Trailblazer - and looking around in general - I realized how much the price of vehicles had increased. So I spent a little bit more and purchased a vehicle that could do everything I wanted. Hauling horses jumps from three-horse models that are pulled by the Avalanche - I can stand to be passed by Volkswagens on hills once or twice per year - to the larger ones which require a gooseneck hitch. Since I am still working on purchasing a farm and will not have many horses for awhile, I felt that the Avalanche was the wisest - and most comfortable - vehicle to purchase at the time. Of course, this little story accomplishes little. :)

Congratulations on your purchase!

I was one of those trailblazer shoppers before I laid eyes on the Av....once I did it didn't take me long before I got one...and I don't regret one moment.... :B:

Great choice, tim.

My business partner bought a Trailblazer for his wife. Cost MORE than my AV, and it's tiny. He says it can go faster though.

Welcome to the club Tim_98Z. As you can see I also have the SOM.

That looks like base housing, are you in the military?

Welcome to the neighborhood . . enjoy the Av.

The Trailblazer is Chevy's Explorer killer . . . very nice, but it's not an Av!

Congrats Tim!

I was in the same boat as you, it was either the Trailblazer or the Av. After a couple drives with each I was happier with the Av. The TB is nice, especially the LTZ's I was looking at, but they just don't have the functions :0:, look , or command >:D of the road like an Av

Thanks for all the cool welcomes. ;D My only thing about this AV is i need to find or devise a mod to help out the look of the wheel wells. (for me) I like everything else. Just the Flat part over the tires is too much. Hopefully a search here will help me. That's the main thing i joined for. I know on ls1.com and ls1tech.com it saved me ALOT of $$ on my Z28 on mods. And alot more ideas. Look forward to helping this AV out and hopfully helping you all out at the same time....

Tim,

I was in the AF for 28 years. Just retired last year and I am now working as a govt contractor at Brooks AFB, TX. Hard to leave the AF behind.

What base are you at?

Tim_98Z, welcome as well. Looks like base housing has drastically improved since I honorably left back in 92! I spent 4.5 years at Minot (aircraft electrician) and 3 years at Chanute (teaching aircraft electronics). The pay must also have gone up quite a bit to get an Av ;D

I just visited Minot a few weeks back while on a fishing trip in ND courtesy of my retired Navy father in-law. They are building VERY nice modern housing and phasing out the old housing we used to live in. ABOUT TIME!

Good to see those keeping our freedom are getting better pay and accomodations!

I'm at Little Rock AFB. I wouldnt say the pay is great by ANY means. Just my wife has a good Job. And the fact that my Fater is Retired GM empolyee. Helps ALOT! Got the AV for $26k at 0% interest for 60 months. Cheaper than a regular truck for me...

Looks like we have a few Air Force and ex-Air Force members here. I was in from 83 to 90 and got out while I was at Andrews AFB. I've stayed in Maryland since I got out.

I was a 304X6. Any others?
