Hi guys, I'm a new owner of a 03 and I? just found out today that my AV is equipped with power folding mirrors but there's a little problem I'm able to unfold them but they will not fold in. Could any one please tell me what I'm doing wrong or how to fix this problem? I have been folding them manually.

Thanks? ?

Welcome to CAFCNA and Congratulations on your Avalanche purchase!

I can't help you with your question, but if you hang tight, someone with the answer will reply soon I am sure.

Happy Av'n,
Todd

you put the switch that controls the left or right mirrors in the middle, then press and hold the right side adjustment switch. Hope I explained it it's kind of hard without being in the Truck I will look for a diagram

Thanks Michigan, I already did but the problem is that it'll not fold them in just unfold them. ?:E:

Here is a link to the manual it has the info to reset them

The info is on page 2.52

I didn't work Michigan because according to the manual I have to unfold them and fold them with the control and it is not folding them in, I wonder if there's a fuse that needs to be replaced, i don't know  :E: :E:

I moved this to the appropriate section and made the topic appropriate to the issue so people might notice it.

I'll take a look at my manuals later this evening and post if no one else has helped you

OK 2 circuit breakers one for left door in IP side of dash and one for right door under dash.

These are not your problem since they do work if you are sure the top switch is in the neutral position and it still does not work probably a dealer issue, it may be the switch itself, but I know for sure.

thanks Michigan but nothing seems to solve the problem. I think I'll give up.  :E: :E: :E:

You might want to take it to a local dealer and have them look at it for you..

I would try to jump the mirror motor directly to see if this works to fold it and un fold it. All you have to do is remove the mirror, look at the motor and jump it with 12V, then try to reverse the jump to make them fold in or out. This way you can tell if the motor is good and work back from there, Switch and then make sure power is coming in on it.

Here are some links on it

on the 2nd link? reply #30 you will see the 2 wires that are direct to the motor. Hope this helps out.

Thank You guys,  I will keep trying to fix it, Sam I don't know I'm not a very good Handy man and I'M afraid to mess up something else I might give it a try this week-end. Are there fuses for the mirrors?

Thanks

As you look at the treads the motors are controled by a circuit board, I suspect that it has gone bad, These motors and the componets get all kinds of gunk/water in them. I helped ChevyFanGermany tear his apart and found they were completly rusted fast.

As you see in the attached pics, You can follow the wires back down from the motor, to the connector. Your wires may be a different color depending on model/year. But you should be able to directly jump it with a 9 volt battery or even a old car batt, just to be safe. Plug the wires into the connector and just swap them/reverse them. This will change the polarity and make the motor working it in and out. The little control board inside the motor has limit stops in it and controls it from going to far out or in. I don't think it is a fuse, You said it does fold in but not out. Tends to sound like the control board or switch.

Thanks Sam, I'll give it a try, I noticed you're in the military That's cool,  I was in the Navy for 6 years and my brother was in the Army for 10 out of Fort Hood, TX .  As I said I'll try this week-end I hope I don't break anything.

Thanks.

OH and I also have a brother who was an Army Ranger but unfortunately he got  killed at the Gulf War in Kuwait.

Does any one knows how to get the switch out? I want a try that before I take the mirror apart.

Basically you take the screws out of the door panel and lift it out (yes lift) there are plastic hooks holding it. The switches are on a panel, power windows and all, which is held in by a screw. heres a link
