KZ-Z71AV

GUEST
First, I would like to thank all the members for the information on this website. It was a great source as we researched the AV. We have a 03 LPM WBH Z-71 with most everything on it except a roof rack. We have 1,900 miles on it and absolutely love the truck.

We have had two instances recently when merging onto an expressway and trying to accelerate from 40 to 45mph when the AV did not seem to respond. Almost like it wouldn't down shift but rather kind of lumbered along and slowy gained speed. It has only done it with the AC on. Anyone else have this happen?

Thanks.

Yes I have had situations where I felt the truck 'should' have downshifted and did not. The AC on makes sense as well as it pulls a lot of power. I have a supercharger on mine and I can still tell by the feel of the engine response when the AC is on.
I think Yak's point is pretty much it, just give it more throttle till it does kick down. You could put it in tow mode but that is overkill and a waste of fuel IMHO.
You will see this also when going up a slope, you 'press' not punch the gas and it seems to take forever to run up. I don't think this is anything particular to the AV.

Drive it like you stole it, get on it son >:D.... For real though. This is a very heavy vehicle and not real hot for speed so I agree it seems a bit sluggish but once you figure out what its capable of and you get used to it you will find its normal.
But Yak is right need to mod >:D . I'm trying to get into performance exhaust and an intake to help my Av. It could definitely use a little more grunt... ;D
