 I received my Stainless Steel Step Bars today from a company called Accessories Direct. 866-798-8400. They are an outstanding product.

Took me 45 mins to install, they are polished stainless, no drill mounting and very solid.

They don't stick out a ton, in fact they're about even with the top edge of the cladding.

I highly recommend this guy, the shipping was FAST!! The product is excellent!

I found him on E-Bay and got the bars for $235.00, he said to send any of my friends his way and he'd take care of them.

I suspect y'all are my friends...

His company manufactures these step bars. I'm not sure what all else he has, maybe we can get him to be a preferred vendor for the club?

I'll have pics of them on my picture trail album tomorrow 11-02-02

they sound pritty good sjprowler.... but yeah pics are a must! cant wait to see them!

SJProwler,
How did those bars mount to your truck. Was it directly to the frame? Directly to the body? Or did they use the bracket that mounts the body to the frame?

Thanks

Thanks SJProwler (y)

That is a great price........I ordered a set.

I agree. I talked with Rick to place the order yesterday and guess what showed up at my office today.....Yep, one day shipping, I didn't request next day but from Glendale, AZ to El Paso, TX thats how FAST it got here. The freight was only $27.

They mount using the front and rear body mounts, just remove the bolts and replace them with the brackets and new bolts, washers and lockwashers that come with the kit.

Word of warning... sometimes his guys get the driver side and passenger side stickers backwards. If the bracket doesn't look right, try the other one. I called and told him, he chuckled and said "yeah, I know..."

Other than that, GREAT product!

Woo! I think ya just saved me a little over $300!

Called my dealer back to tell them about this part and they said we were in luck cause my AV order hadn't been picked up yet. They took the phone and part number and said they'd delete the $585 stock Nerf bars and order the $235 ones from Accessories Direct instead. Will be installed and ready to go when the truck is prepped for pick-up. ;D

Does that count as a "Mod" or am I still at 0 count? If so I might have 2 or 3 mods (including tires/rims) done before I even accept her for delivery.

A pre-mod is still a mod, IMHO! Let the count begin! ;D

You can even see what your Av is gonna look like with my Pic's... ;D

You want me to take some with any particular background? That way you could print a few and show off pics of your new Av to your friends LOL!!

Thank god for that, I'm sure will have a few pre-delivery mods. ;)

Believe it or not, I prefer the look of the standard running boards. :2:

This was something that bothered me with the stock steps and why I decided against getting them on my AV.

Do you find these really useful? I like how they look, however, I'm not sure I really need them for getting in and out of the truck...I mean SUV...I mean...oh never mind! :)

Thanks!

I don't really need them for getting in and out, I put them on there both for the looks and for passengers that might be shorter than I am.

The polished stainless really dresses up some colors.

If I'd had to pay $500 or so for the GM ones I probably wouldn't have them.

Thanks for the info. My thinking was along the same lines as yours. My wife just barely cracks the 5FT mark and has a bear of a time getting in and out. Besides, It's a great sell line when she says...You need what! :)

Thanks!

Rick is a great guy.. He is local (Glendale, AZ) and when I came down to check out the nerf bars, he was willing to cut me a great deal, and even help me install them.. He had a catalouge full of stuff, and was quoting me amazing prices... I am going to see how much he can get brush gaurds for..

I had PM'd Jackalanche and Irontrain about contacting Rick concerning Group Buys or even sponsoring the site but have not heard anything. With you having the local connection it might be something you could team up with them on. :0:

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade....but, I noticed in SJPROWLER's pics that there is not a center support for the step bars. I just installed a pair of Westin Platinum Series, chrome, stainless steel bars and they mount to the front, center and rear body mounts. Obviously this gives a more secure mount and will support greater weight. They also carry a lifetime warranty (for the original purchaser). These were more expensive ($380.00), but were substantially less than the factory bars. Just my two cents worth...

The Luverne Nerf Bar appears to only have 2 mount points as well. Here's a picture from their site.

Luverne Nerf Bar

Perhaps that's the standard? With third mount brackets attaching to the bottom of the tube you aren't going to get "rock slider" performance out of them anyway as that bracket will hang. I'll leave it to SJProwler to comment about how stiff the Accessories Direct Nerf Bars are as he has first hand experience.

These bars should be good enough since you are ?only getting in and out of your vehicle's. ?Unless you plan on jumping up and down on them all day. ?The end connections should be adequate. ?I thought the same thing and then I looked at other trucks and 95% of them are connected on the ends. ?The problem with some of them are the rubber/plastic? pieces which are connected to the metal come off. ?Though maybe someone had a bad experience with the Luverne brand. ?I heard of problems with the rubber/plastic? coming off the Manik brands up in Alaska. Much colder up here than DOWN there where you all are at! :D

How many times do you guys want me to jump up and down on them...??

I about 230# and I can rock the Av back and forth standing on 'em. They are very solid. Easy to install too.

I still am quite impressed with the product and amazed at the price.

The only plastic pieces on my bars are the step pads and actually I think they're rubber, the ends of the stainless bars are capped with a machined piece that is part of the mounting hardware.

Hey SJProwler, is the guy you purchased you nerf bars from the same guy as "trk_accessorie_guy' on Ebay? If so, I think I'm about to follow your lead and get a set of these. Looks great! Lemme know. Thanks. Nice Blue AV!

Yes, that's the same guy, his name is Rick. I'm still very happy with the product. He also has them available in Black Powder Coat. I know he has other accessories available also but don't have a full listing.

Thanks for the compliment!
