Noise from from AUTO CLIMATe SENSOR

Just purchased an 02 Z71. Built in the headliner just above the driver's seat is a small gray "circle", looks like a speaker. Sometimes a low buzzing noise comes out of it. Prior owner says it is due to the Onstar system. Could this be, and how do I silence it? By the way this 02 looks like new in and out, but has 106,000 miles on it. I think the price was right ($17,500), am I crazy for buying with such high miles? Love it though!

Welcome to the club....this is the AUTO climate sensor...there is a little fan in there...that is the buzzing you hear.....

DO a seearch and you wilol see all sorts of posts on it....in fact one has a copy of the maintenance manual which shows a pic of it..

Had the fan replaced under warranty last year when the buzz became unbearable
