FYI, This is going to be a long post. I'm kind of looking at getting an 2007 Avalanche or maybe a 2008 when they come out. It depends on my financial situation in the coming months but I thought I might get a couple questions answered. I have never owned an AV.

First, some AV's have wood interior and others have chrome/silver. Is that an option or does it come with certain trims? Does the chrome/silver scratch easily?

Two, I'm looking to get an 4x4, LT1 with the options of side impact air bags and dual automatic climate control (otherwise stock). Black exterior/ebony interior. Do I have the choice of getting chrome/silver or wood interior with the choices I've made on options? I have been searching for an LT1 with side impact air bags (not caring about the exterior color or interior color...I've been seeking price) and haven't found one yet or the description is too vague to tell if it does. Is this something I would have to have a dealer order?

Third, What price am I looking at for the options I've chosen? The reason I ask is because I went on edmunds.com and they were saying 32,800 but I've seen people on the site that have paid less for more vehicle. What do you think I could get the AV for? I live in central Iowa but I'm moving to the KC area because my wife is getting a job down there so I could buy it either place.

Lastly, have any of you guys driven with you rear window in the midgate but the midgate up (with or without passengers)? What are your thoughts on that  (interstate/in town)?
 
The chrome interior (well not chrome but metallic) only comes on the Z-71's... and the last question, you mean just the back window out with passengers... I love it... open the sunroof, pop out the back window... closest thing to a convertible I'll ever own  >:D  Hope that helps!

And actually, I had some of my buddies in the back with the window out on Sunday on the way to Wrestlemania ( >:D), stuck in traffic downtown, and it started to rain... I was a little nervous, but they stayed dry!  It's not too windy, not too loud...
Either way, I love my 07, and I wish I could tell you what to expect to pay, but that's something I don't know much about  :B:
 
The metallic interior also comes standard in the LS trim as well as a Z71optioned LT...your LT1 will have the ugly wood just like the one I have ordered..I plan on switching it out asap.

Based on building a 4x4 at www.gmfamilyfirst.com, if you get a supplier certificate, the price of your truck should be about:
Total MSRP: $37,610.00
GMS Price: $33,492.03

Assuming you can get ~$2k in incentives, which may not be available if you have to order an '08 right now, you're looking at ~$31,500.

GMS price is Employee pricing....not Supllier Pricing.  You wont get that.
My ordered 07 is MSRP $37780..Supplier Price..$34900.  Minus the $2k rebate lands you at $32900.

Order it, you could get lucky searching dealer inventories online or ask a salesman to search for you. Most the trucks you'll find come with set packages of options.

Air bags, , head curtain side-impact, front and rear outboard seating positions, with rollover sensor (ASF) $350.00

HVAC SYSTEM  Air conditioning, , dual-zone automatic climate control, with individual climate settings for driver and right-front passenger. Includes rear air conditioning outlets in center console when bucket seats are ordered (CJ2) $195.00

if you go to www.gmfamilyfirst.com, click supplier pricing, follow directions with zip code and opitions you can read the window sticker on the trucks you are interested in. i looked for a couple of months before buying mine. good luck
 
Thanks AVINWYO but I've looked and I haven't found the exact truck I want. I agreed with Flint4x4 that I'm probably going to have to have a dealer order it and the way I'm going (very slow) I may just wait till the 08's have incentives then order but thanks for your input.
 
If you find one with all the right options but with woodgrain you could always change it later. You might even find a club member that wants woodgrain willing to swap interior parts.
 
And if there are any owners out there that want to trade their brushed aluminum interior trim for the woodgrain please let me know  >:D

I hate the woodgrain, I like my all black interior, I'd darken the beige headliner/dvd/console too but my eyes are usually on the road so I don't notice it often. Only mods on my truck are exterior.
