With the beautiful weather we finally have a chance to enjoy a wonderful Camping experience in areas which are usually full of snow. Let's take advantage of that for our next Get Together. We are looking at the weekend of August 28th. The area is still open for discussion. Between Today and August 9th, Please post here what parks you would like to see in the upcoming Poll. When offering your campground suggestion, please keep in mind a few things...

#1 - Easy Access, some would say we have large vehicles (chuckle chuckle) let's make sure we won't have to hug the cliffs all the way to our final destination. If an Av went over the side, yes we'd have more room to spread out, but I would hate to lose one of our members.

#2 - Pets are People too, Let's keep in mind that for many, their Pets are their family members. Please make sure the place you suggest can accomodate our furry friends.

#3 - Children are People too, Let's keep in mind that for many, their Children are their family members. Please make sure the place you suggest can accomodate our little friends.

#4 - BonFire Friendly, OK so it may not be legal to have a campfire as big as those at some Texas College Campuses, but can we at least be able to rub two sticks together w/out being fined $584! We all luv those late night talks around the fire so let's make sure that we can not only do that SAFELY but LEGALLY as well.

#5 - Trees, It is still August so let's keep in mind that areas which are in close proximity to the mojave desert or any other non-wooded areas may not be a good idea. Keep in mind, Trees = Cooler Weather.

#6 - A River Runs Through It, Although I'm not hoping to park my tent next to the Pacific Ocean, it sure wouldn't hurt to have easy access to streams/lakes for wading, splashing, fishing, whatever.

#7 - ETC... If that weekend happens to correspond to the "Senior's w/ Sizzle Nudist Colony GTG" in Yosemite and you KNOW IT... please don't suggest it ... (ie. if you're not sure about the location, don't post it.)

#8 - Blah Blah Blah...

In the Beginning of next week, please be ready to vote for your favorite location. ALSO - Let your friends know. This would be a wonderful time for others in our friendship web to learn a little more about who we are and what we're about. Even if they are not Av Owners, we welcome all who can help us collect firewood.... ;) ;) ;)

Jenkinson Lake ( AKA Sly Park ) is located approximately 60 miles east of Sacramento just off Highway 50. Jenkinson rests at an elevation of 3,478 feet in the beautiful El Dorado National Forest. The lake has a surface area of 640 acres with nine miles of evergreen covered shoreline. There are several camping facilities available suitable for tents, RV's, and group camping. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming; improved launching facilities available. Rentals available at the lake May through September. For the fisherman Jenkinson holds a good population of smallmouth bass, trout, and bluegill.

Pleanty of space for trucks , near store for " Soda " runs , take the road train through downtown placervile and stop at the Chevy Dealer as well .

My .01 input sure i will have the other .01 soon to post .

Wondering if there is any interest in Camping with our members . I remember the first GTg we had and every other one people always talk about camping trips .... :cautious:

Paul and Janet tried to get people not to long ago also and didnt get much response except for Nascar Rich.

Oh well no biggee , I guess people dont want to burn out with the Socal trip coming up also . Well if anyone is interested you know where our trucks will be on the 28th weekend (y)

Steve, this accounts for 0% of our reason for not being able to go...

The owner of my business takes a few trips (mini-vacations) every year...that weekend falls during a week he will be gone; so...I will be on call 24/7... :6: :C:

Amy and I usually take our vacation in late November but rescheduled for the Mega Meet...the owner rescheduled one
of his trips to accomodate us and that #*%$'d up late August...sorry... :2: :3:

It is cool guys  , just nice to hear some responses . We just put the idea out there and no one had responded so we were a bit bummed out . :6:

I know Nascar Rich will be going with us and as soon as Paul and Janet get the card we left on their door last night lol think they might go also . ;D

I'm sure Mega Meet has something to do with it too...
For some it will be an exspensive week/weekend... :cautious:

It is possible that we can/should/need to plan for a state park or National park camping trip WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY in advance ....

Like the dead of winter for some parks. Six to three months for others. My family plans and books our onceamonthforthewholesummerdon'twejustloveeachotherare wereallydoingthisagain.... Camping trips in /on Dec31, Jan 1 when we can get online and book the sites.

It's not impossible to get sites this late... Just not so easy all the time. Denise and I have been shut out more than once for a last minute"heyweshouldgocamping" trip.

My .02

Hey Steve,
Per our discussion the other day we may come up for the day on Saturday but, if things go smoothly this month who knows we may be able to swing the whole weekend. Just le tus know where you'll be and we're there. We'll even bring up a "SODA" ;) or two >:D

:) I'm a new member, camping sounds like alot of fun, question: Does anyone bring children on these trips? We have 2 boys who would be joining. This weekend conflicts with soccer tourney, but interested in future trips.

We have Two boys, 6 & 3 and a 1 1/2 Yr old Daughter. (yes we know, no social life, lol) Red-2002-Avalanche has a son who's at least 5, maybe 6 as well who goes to a lot of our meets as well. (psst... he has an awesome video system we can sometimes bribe him to use as a temp babysitter for the lil ones. Hope to see u btw at one of our Starbucks GTG... :D

I swear I posted already on this but I guess I didn't. Where are we meeting or going again? sorry I've read this a few times and I'm still lost. I wanna come but I can't figure out where and how much? >:D

This trip sounds like alot of fun. Sorry we won't be able to join you all. My neice has a birthday party in Socal that weekend. We'll be thinking of you as you all play. If we get back in time, we'll hear all about it at Starbucks on Sunday. Be safe!
