Anyone else here from the SW Michigan / NC Indiana area? I know there's more 'cause I've seen them on the road. There's a foot of snow on the roads right now and it's time to have a AV cruise. ;D

I know we have a number of Chicago area members...

May 4th and 5th, 2002

The Michigan Jeepers are hosting a 4x4 hill climb and fire trail ride in Grayling. There will be day and night rides. I asked if I could come along with my AV, and they said yes, the more the merrier. So if anyone is interested, there is a large group meeting Saturday Morning at the Rest Stop on I-75 just south of Holly at 6:00am.

The group leaves Grayling for the day trip at 10:00am and rides until 4:00pm.

There is an after dark ride, followed by many folks camping or staying at local hotels for more riding on Sunday.

It appears that about half the group is going up for the Saturday Day Ride only. I am going for the day only.

It would be great to get a dozen or AV's to go along. More details are at www.michiganjeepers.com

I would like to go but I already have plans with the kids that weekend. keep us posted of any other meets this summer. I'm always looking for any excuse to drive my AV.

Heavy Chevy here, looking for other AV owners in MI. I'm in the Detroit Tri-County area and I'm feeling a burning desire to get a meet and/or cruise scheduled soon.

There are so many places for a meet or it would be great to get a bunch of AV's to cruise up north a bit to see the fall colors in Sept.-Oct. Maybe someone will know of a good spot to do a little off-roading :0: also.

I live in Ludington and I'm also getting the itch for a meet. I have heard people talking about places near by that are great to drive but have only been to silver lake. If you have any ideas I am open. I just have a tough work schedual but I'm sure I could get around it.
Marc

You would HOPE the Home of the Big Three could get more interest in this!

Hmm, maybe we need to find some MI truck groups to steal some Avalanche owners from! :D

Now that school is back in session my work schedule is pretty full. But I could probably talk the boss(my wife) :-* into letting me take a saturday or a sunday to go on a cruise. ;) Anyone know who the cruise cordinator for Mich is ??? You know it's a sad thing that all the meets have been out west when we live in the MotorCity. :6:

Here's another one ;D Waterford area, but also have a pretty full schedule lately... Certainly would be interested to know about any 'goings on' around here though!

Just curious ??? has the detroit area cruise coordinator contacted any Mich members to see if there is any interest in having a meet ???

I've made several attempts to contact Ted Hou, the designated Detroit, MI area coordinator, with no luck ??? I mentioned something to Chief about no reply and requested assistance. Chief said to keep him posted if there is still no response, so maybe it's time to let him know.

I have been "tagging" as many Av's as I can (about 6 so far) to get more active members in this area. It would be great to get at least 10 of us together for a Sunday cruise "up north" to see the fall colors in October. Maybe someone knows of a some area(s) off the beaten path where we could get a little dirty, too. >:D

Hi All,
I'm from the Ann Arbor area also. The color tour sounds like a great idea. My wife has been trying to get me to do this for years but the fall always gets so busy trying to tie up loose ends before the white stuff flies. Our sunset orange should blend right in.

Say HeavyChevy, have you contacted the Chief?

No, I haven't maybe it's time to send him an e mail and see what he thinks. I'm thinking Ted Hou got preoccupied or sidetracked with other things ???

I'm in Utica.

We are planning a trip up for a color tour, we'd love to make it a group event if you want.

Also, about the 4 wheeling..... I'm one of four people who lead a group of 70-80 vehicles four wheeling in Grayling three times a year. We just got back from a trip this weekend, 73 trucks! In addition, about five of us go up at least twice a month.

I wrote a post about it in May, Here is the link.

We've been taking the jeep up, but the AVY does just fine.

I'd be happy to take a group of AVY's up and show you a good time off roading.

Sometimes we even get to play tag on the hills with the tanks! Look here.

You won't need ORV stickers.
You will need a picnic lunch, I bring the grill.
We frequently make it a day trip, Leave home at 6:00am, return by 8:00pm. But overnights are fine, Holidome, Days Inn, and plenty of motels are available.

Here are pitcures of this past weekend Click me.

As you can see, I tow the jeep with the AVY, that way if it rains, I can tell my wife that we have to use the AVY so we don't get wet!

If we go to Grayling, any stock 4x4 AVY will be able to climb most hills and have a fun time.

One more thing, 4 wheeling in grayling is a fun family event, look at some of the pictures from the 'click me' link above.

Jasgot, this is exactly what I have been looking for ;D I would greatly appreciate an invitation to your next run to Grayling, especially during the fall-color-tour-run.

I noticed in the original message you posted in May, you were driving the black beast and this past weekend you were jeepin'. Did you get the Jeep recently or did you just want to try out the Avy in May? Also, how would the Jeepers feel about a bunch of AVY's "invading their territory"? Is the area where you were Federal land, open to anyone?

I will send you an e mail with my contact info and would love to get together with ya to plan, etc. I'm sitting here, waiting for my wife to hurry up and get home so I can show her these pics and have her read your story. She's gonna freak >:D

How about the other MI AV'ers? Anyone else interested in getting together for an outing? In my mind, I'm seeing Rockslide's White AVY suddenly a medium mud-toned-brown :D Rock???

:B:

From the Flint area here, had my 2500 for over a year now, still no problems and 24,000 miles later. I would be interested in some type of gathering or club organization. I still have my 69 camaro that I show and go to cruises on occasion, so I know how that scene goes. I see quite a few AV's running around the area, most are Blue Black and Pewter, only one other Orange like mine, I have also only saw one other 2500, most are the Z-71 1500's.

Feel free to email me at Troycamaro@yahoo.com, my camaro and AV pic should be there if your interested

Howell, MI Here.

Ready for an AV cruise. That's the reason I joined! Haven't been here long, but haven't heard anything from the area coordinator. I believe I checked something saying that I want to be notified by the area coordinator when an event is near. Was there nothing for the drem cruise?!!

I would love to do the color tour if it can be arranged and falls into a void in my schedule. If someone sets it up I can respond quickly. Where's the coordinator when you need him?

As a future event that we can all plan ahead for I propose a St. Ignace cruise to the St. Ignace car show next year. Starting from the south and gathering AVs along the way up. If there are any AVs in the U.P. they could start in the west and pick em up on the way east. Tell me what you think. The only thing better than the Avalanche is a convoy of them.

I'm the Lansing Club coordiantor, and to be honest no one but me and one friend has ever shown up at our meetings....to be honest I haven't pushed it with the dealers yet.

But looks like we've got enough folks here to come up with at least a state wide meeting. I really like the Grayling idea.

Hmm...Lansing club coordinator? How come I haven't been notified? I have posted using Lansing in a few times and have never been approached. I have been on the site since Jan02. ???

Hey Jasgot, we're ready for you, man. The fire's been stoked and we're ready to rock n roll.

Let us know when you were planning the tour and then we can coordinate a meet and shoot up to Grayling.

I wish this website had a geographic search capability. I'm sure that out of almost 3,000 members, there are more than just us near the birthplace of the Avalanche!

Anyway, I'm in...just let me know when, so I can plan around it. I know the fall colors past Flint are usually peaking in early Oct.
