Oil Pressure Gauge - Do I Have A Problem?

I have noticed that all of my gauges drop to zero when I turn off the key, with the exception of the oil gauge. It always stays around 40psi.

I am having memory issues :) and can't remember if it has always been like this.

Does anyone else have the same thing?

I am going to the dealer on Thursday for an SES light issue and wonder if I need to add this to the list - 34,400 miles and counting - time to get everything fixed :D

You're good Blueruck (at least with this issue) (y). Even I know that ALL the gauges go to zero when you turn off the key :) ;).

And geez, wasn't it just a week ago that you posted your pic of 33,333 miles, now you're at 34,400  ?!
Talk about doing a lot of driving in the last week!

COAVZ71 - you might want to read my post and yours again :) ?I was wondering if the oil gauge should go to zero mine DOESN'T - it stays at 40 psi.

I have been driving a lot this past week - guy at the fuel store is getting to know me on a first name basis ?:C:

my last dodge would go to zero and the light would come on sometimes at start up.

I quit going to firestone for oil changes and it went away.

2+2 = no firestone.

Never noticed that. I did notice that the oil pressure on my Av is considerably LOWER than my Sierra. (also a 5.3) That would go to pretty close to 80 when cold and cruise warm around 60. The Av is more like 60 and 40. ???

On my '02 Z71 5.3 the oil pressure also stays around 40 psi when I turn the engine off, from what I have read this is normal...

Running PSI, about 80 cold and maybe 60ish when warm.

Damn, sorry ?. ?Then something doesn't seem right about it not going to zero. ?But I wouldn't think that would be anything to worry about.

(I just now realized what kind of a fool I made of myself . I think I intended to say something else but it came out wrong in that last post :6:.)

I think they just about all stay at 40 when you shut it off. ?Leave it off for a few minutes and then turn the key back on and it will drop to 0 before you restart it. ? Around 60psi at normal operating temp is normal, too.

Nascar you are right - I never tried to turn it back on and see it go to Zero.

I don't know about the 2002 models, but the 2003 oil gauges go to zero when turned off. If they stay at anything else, possible short in gauge.
