Hello, new to the site. Looks like a very imformative forum!!! Would like to hear from some experianced people on a small system for my 04' AV. Probably just 2-8" or 10"subs and an amp. Do not want to spend too much money on this would, just like alittle extra kick. Do not know awhole lot about this stuff. I have a 95' Z71 EXT CAB and use to have a Q-LOGIC box under driver back seat with 1 RP 10" and a punch 45. 2(old stuff-lol). Would like something similar in sound. Also would like them to be under back seats so they will still let down. Have been on forums before and I have looked at alot of set-ups on here just cant decide what is best. Thanks alot!!! Good to be a member.

:welcome:

:welcome: to the club

Look around in the threads and see what others have done.  You'll be amazed at some folk's setups.  I started with 2 8's and loved them...now I'm running 4 8's.  Check out my link in my sig and yo can see the setups.

Whats up guy and welcome to the club. I have found a lot of boxes at Factorycaradio.com I have an 07 Av. and I think I am going to go with the midgate box because the boxes that this webistes sells are coated in bedliner. There pretty good poop. Maybe an amp or 2 under the back seats. But anyway, goodluck and hope you find something you can use. Check it out, they have downfire underseats along with upfire. Only 10's I think. Ok later dude.

Thanks for the replys. I will have to get to looken on here and just make up my mind as to the brand. ?Lots of choices!

Hey Loggie, just noticed you were from Valdosta. Im from Rochelle-about 75 miles to the north!

Sound like a meet will need to take place.  You can hear my setup for yourself.  I'll be back in the area in Oct :D

I guess the first ? I need to be asking is what will I have to do to get an amp and subs hooked up to my Bose radio. Don't really want to get rid of my factory radio because I have XM and don't want to spend the money on another one. Have read about the factory amp and speakers and dont know if I can use them or not. All I want is to add a little thump without out having to rearrange the whole system. Like I said earlier I do not know anything about this stuff and wanted someone to give me some ideas as to what size amp with a certain size speaker. Looking at Rockford Phosgate because that is what I had before. My old amp (punch 45. 2) just quit working one day, don't know what went wrong with it and wandering if I could fix it if I could use it and the 10" I got now? Would really like to get that amp fixed if I could use it now, save $$$$. Thanks for all the help!

If you want to add a little thump I would just add something like a bazooka tube

Ok, how much trouble is it to add a sub and amp to the Bose radio?

Could be a challenge if you do it yourself, I would pay the $75 for the install and let a pro do it.

hi im also new to the fan club. I have been looking for a while to get just a little bass in my av. I found this midgate box on ebay and was wondering what some people think of it. I think its a really great price, but to sure about this kind of stuff. heres the link please let me know what you think.       hxxp: cgi. ebay. com/ws/eBayISAPI. dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330170614228&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=014
Thanks

Air Space = 1.182 cubit feet
Mounting Depth = 7inches :p limiting your speaker pull

Looks cheap IMO because of the bed liner coating but for the price :dunno:

Surf the site, you?ll find what you?re looking for.  Check the 4-sale section too

BTW :welcome: to the club

yeah I was just planning on putting like some rockford 10" p2's in there. that should almost be perfect for the space.

I was kinda wanting to know exactly(not every little detail) what I would have to do to get it hooked up, for example - use factory amp or not,can I still use my factory radio, what do I have to do to get to the back of the radio etc. . .

welcome to the club, JABBO.

the answers to questions you're asking are definitely in this section, so read up a bit.  there are a few different options, and some are better than others.

i have the same setup you have with regard to head unite, bose, etc...  i just recently got my amp and box installed.

i'll say this, DO NOT go to Car Ttoys to install your, they'll charge you an arm and a leg, and try to get one of your kidneys.  (example, they wanted to charge me $90 just for an "amp rack" - ie, a board with carpet on which they would screw down the amp and mount it to the back seat... they charged me $15 for the PAC and $45 to install it.... <search this forum for PAC, you'll need one.>)

all of the answers to all of the questions are in this thread somewhere... take your time and read, or, if you're in a hurry, just get the box you want, the amp and speakers you want, and take it to an installer - they generally know what to do...  but i say read and know what you want done - maybe even find someone on here that is in your area and hook up with them to see what they have, where they got it, who hooked it, etc...

the only thing you really need info on is how to wire the amp with the bose system...  everything else is pretty standard

Hi Jabbo- :welcome:  Here's a thread that shows a set up I just had put in my AV.  click here  There are 2 10" subs in an underseat box w/ back of seat amp install.  I had it professionally done, too chicken to even try anything like this! I DO know that there is something that need so be installed at the head unit to make it all work (I have Bose also..)  Might be that PAC that TK is talking about.  If you have any doubts-it's well worth going to  a good installer-makes it worry free!  Good luck!

Jabbo,
There is also another thread about building boxes for 8" subs...  those boxes will allow your seat to fold all the way down like stock.  I didn't go that route because I didnt' have the time to build a box.  Point being if you need the seats to fold all the way down, it can happen.  Mine dont' go all the way down (as you'll see in the pics), but they're down enough for what i need...
