I just finished putting the bed lid panels back on my AV in the pitch dark tonight. I took the panels out of my lit garage and brought them outside into the dark, and I was surprised to see that the white plastic tips on the latch handles glow in the dark!!! Just when I thought I knew about all of the features of my '04 AV, it surprises me again!

Did anyone else know about this? I've seen no mention of it.

yep... cool huh?

this has been a feature from the beginning....

probably so that we don't poke our eye out... ;D ;D ;)

I just noticed it myself for the first time last night. I had the back open all day with the covers on cause I had a dozen rolls of sod and didn't want them to get too hot. I unloaded the sod early but never closed the back cause it needed cleaning. It was after dark when I got around to it and I noticed the handles glowing, thinking to myself, that's neat, now I can see them.

I've noticed during the day that they look like they are made of that material, but have never seen them at night - I'll have to check it out!

I knew they glowed and had to do the change demo for the guys at 3AM in the parking lot after work June 27 '01  It was actually my first time changing and seeing them glow too.

I knew they glowed (thanks to this board awhile back).

I think they glow in the unlikely event you are locked/trapped in bed you can see handles to get out. My interior trunk release handles on other vehicles glow for this reason.

OK, wait. Does this mean it's possible to open the bed covers without opening the tail gate?

While we're on the subject, can the front cover be removed without taking off the rears first?

 :B:

I think the reason I haven't seen my glow is that they are almost never exposed to light. I always have the tailgate closed and the panels in place. I would assume that the handles need to be exposed to light in order to glow in the dark. The other reason I never noticed is because the handles are tucked up in a location that you don't look at too often.

midlifecrisis,
Mine glow and my bed covers have only been off a couple times. First night after work they glowed even in a well lit parking lot, 2 days later they really glowed in the deep woods at night. Of course camping I had the tailgate down most the day.
