Anyone interested in a little GTG in Corolla, NC for a little sand fun.

We are checking on hotels. I think it is the weekend before the Wright Bros bash.

Lets here from ya. ;D

Sounds terriffic. Love that area, but with a 12 hour drive to get there, I'm not sure that I can talk my wife into it. :cautious: Let's see... take Friday off, spend all day driving down, have a blast on Saturday and spend Sunday driving back. :E: Maybe I'm just love driving my AV, but sounds okay to me. :B:

If memory serves, the beaches are open to 4WD that time of year. Planning to drive the beach?

yeah, and then if you are really brave you can follow big block around the point at Oregon Inlet :)

anyone else in Region I going to join us out there? Should be a good time getting out on the beach and seeing the sights.

So far we have Speeder, Bigblock and a few members from Region II ....anyone else coming down for some fun in the sand?

Don't forget the following weekend down there is the Wright Brothers festival, so there should be plenty of things to see this weekend :)

You can pencil me in for now. If I come I will probably bring the g/f and the horsies to ride on the beach. I am pretty sure the private horseback riding is allowed on the beach, but does anyone know for sure?

Hey 02Z71
It will be great to have you down there with us. Not sure about the horses on the beach, the hotel folks could probably tell you. I know there are wild horses all over the northern end and lots of back trails up there that would be great to ride on. Not sure there are a lotta good spots to keep the horses at night though, unless you left them on the trailer. The beach area that we will drive up to is Corova in case someone asks where specifically you are talking about taking them. We will enter the 4x4 section above Corolla Light and head north to Corova and the VA state line.

Hope you can make it. Let us know for sure and we'll send you some cell phone #'s.

Thanks Zukrace, I submitted the Coastal NC Visitor Information Request Form in that I got from the Outer Banks.com website asking them for information about horseback riding and horse boarding on the outer banks. Hopefully they will be able to get me the information that I need. I have been down there before and have driven on the beach but have never seen and private horses being riden, just the wild horses wondering. I can't see why someone couldn't bring their own horses there if there are wild ones allowed free roaming, but you never know.

I will let you know for sure early next week.

Y'all missed it, here are some pics from the fun in the sand weekend GTG:
