Hi Gang,
? ? I wash my AV every week and then normally do Quick Detailer or wax if needed ?(y). ?I am noticing that it is getting chip all over the place (we just came back from Florida two weeks ago) . ?I am also noticing the paint is like stripping. ?My daughter pointed one spot out to me by the front grill ?:(. ?It just looks like when you stripp a pice of furniture. ?It is small but none the less it is happening. ?Yesterday I washed and I am doing my QD thing and I notice and big chunk of paint stripped from the drivers side door ? ? :8:. ?Any one else expericing this and if so what has the general done for you? ?Your comments are appreicated.

By the way my AV is three months old and has a little over 7,000 miles on it. ?I love the thing and really want to keep it looking sharp.

While it has been mentioned many times on this site. The GM paint on our AVs appears to be kind of thin. I would expect to see the little rock pings that might remove some paint but the strippping aspect of your paint seems a little weird.

I would call my dealer and take it in to have them check it out. The paint chips I could understand but not the stripping.

Talio, I'm sorry to hear of your paint problems. I have no paint problems with my Av....

However, I have had problems with Chevy paint in the past. :6:

In both cases, I took it back to the dealer, and it was repaired under warranty at no cost to me.

On my old Beretta (1989?) I had problems with paint on the hood peeling. They repainted the hood. A few years later when I went to trade it in (1995) the roof was starting to peel at the windshield. That was one of the reasons I traded it.

On my old S-10 pickup (1992) I had problems with the paint peeling on the fenders and doors. In this case, they stripped the entire truck down to the primer and repainted it. I held onto it for several more years after that, and had no other problems when I traded it in 1998.

As for your case, one could argue that chipping is road hazard damage that is not covered under warranty (just like a door ding would not be covered.) However, any way you look at it, peeling paint is not normal, and should be covered under warranty.

Talio, what this sounds like is what is called "Paint Delamination".
I am a Refinish Tech. at a Chevrolet dealership in Michigan and we have not received any notice about paint problems with the Avalanche.
Many of you will recall the problems GM had with the paint in the past, I know I do.
We had to strip the entire car, truck, and van
and refinish.
So take it to your favorite dealer and let the check this out for you.
Thats what were there for ;)

Same here I washed my AV today and I am finding chips every were places where rocks can't hit very easy like on my door handles and on the rear by the Z71 decal it is making me sick to my stomic because I care about my AV and want it to look nice and now I am finding chips
