HAS ANYONE PAINTED THE CLADDING ON THEIR TAILGATE ON A WBH AV. AS THE CLADDING DOESN'T WRAP THE BACK END OF THE TRUCK IT LOOKS OUT OF PLACE TO ME. I THINK YOU COULD REMOVE IT AND HAVE A BETTER LOOK OR PAINT IT. WHAT DO YOU THINK? ;D

Would definitely look better painted. (y)
Mr. Wok, for one, has his painted along with the rest of the trim on his Black WBH.

I thought about it: Talked to a local guy who said he would do it for VERY cheap if I took it off and sanded it down. I still have not done it. I don't know if I will, might just save the cash for now.

Have seen several who remove the cladding piece and then put an Avalanche decal on there. I'll try to find pics.

I have seen 3 or 4 around here. It doesn't look bad. In fact I got a pic of a tailgate skin, you can see what it would like. Here it is. The sides have notches for the hinge I guess. But, anyway........

That's what it looks like without the cladding piece. Now, around here people have used those raised decal overlays you see on ebay to fill in that box where it usually says AVALANCHE.

I would like to paint ALL my stuff that is the "bumpy gray plastic", including the triangle "brace" things, the assembly for the 3rd brake light and the toolbox lids. Has anyone seen that done?
I was told that it can't be painted and that if I wanted to do that i would have to go to (i.e. slum it over to) the Caddi dealer and by the parts for an escalade ext. Any one know anything about this? I suppose it would be the same as painting cladding?

Anyone know where to buy a chrome cover for the rear door? I found them for all 4 doors and installed them but cant find a chrome cover for the tailgate door.

tks..lance

Check with bikerchic1977,

Here is here last post as of 3/19 on this subject I think,

chrome handle covers group buy!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

final update!!! all the handle covers have been mailed..

as for those of you who missed this group buy, i will not be doing anymore.. oh stop at me..

i've gotten tired of rushing around for two weeks every month trying to organize the orders for the handle covers themselves, as well as the boxes, bubble wrap and assorted supplies needed to ship them out, then going to the post office and getting dirty looks from the clerks because i have 60+ boxes to be mailed out to different addresses all over north america..

for example, today, when i tried to mail them, the clerk told me she would not put them thru metered mail (or whatever you call it when they print out the postage and stick it on) she would only sell me stamps and i had to lick and apply them myself and then bring the boxes back to her.. and then proceeded to argue with me for the twenty minutes it would have taken her to do it that she wasn't allowed to even tho, that's what i've done every other time!! argh!! so when you get your handle covers this time and two of the four stamps are upside down and/or on completely crooked, u know why.. lol..

alright i'm done ranting.. back to the subject.. here's what i plan to do for those of you who missed the group buy.. i will now just sell them when u need them.. (and here u were all worried about not getting them ) there is one difference now tho.. i will only be accepting paypal from now on.. only because it's the easiest to keep track of..

i have about 5 sets left from the last group buy right now.. after that i will be ordering a bunch at a time to try and keep some on hand at all times (for ur middle of the night mod cravings.. when u just need to order SOMETHING and ur sig. other will kill you if another huge package arrives on your door step.. lol)

i've been talking to my supplier and may have some other products to offer in the future, that i think u'll like.. i can't spill the beans just yet because nothing is final, but once i know for sure, u'll know..

so place your orders, and please be patient if i email you with a delay because i'm out of stock.. this is just a part time thing that i'm doing cuz so many members have helped me out with mods when i needed a fix.. i'm not sure of the exact logistics yet, but i'll try to do my best to get the covers to you as soon as possible to calm that mod craving.. and as always.. MOD ON!!

I hope this helps.

Looks like Photoshop to me

Yeah, it's photoshop. I didn't say I did it, I said I was thinking about it. I was trying to decide if I wanted to paint the handle bezel too or just the lower section or nothing. So far I have painted nothing. I think I might go ahead and paint the lower section, but I have some other things I am working on until then. Spent the $75 I was quoted locally to paint that on a new trailer brake controller as I needed to move a tractor and 8000# of cement through the mountains.

Here is my photoshop of both section painted to see what it might look like. I don't want to do the upper spoiler thing, as I use my truck pretty hard and I know that would get scratched up pretty quickly. I also decided if I was going to paint the handle bezel, I would take out the keyhole too, and decided I didn't want to mess with doing that.

Okay ... I like the look and I'll probably get around to it in a few weeks. But, in the meantime, does anyone know how to remove the tailgate cladding? There don't seem to be any screws, so maybe it's glued on. If so, the panel underneath might be ugly.

???????

Double stick tape holds this piece on. I questioned the underside of this piece also in another thread........Smoothed Avalanche Tailgate Cladding

It looks like this though..................

Can anyone tell me where to buy this skin?

Thanks, Rich
