Parking brake cut into wires

A couple of days ago I noticed that my XM tuner wouldn?t turn on. On my next trip out, it came back on again, but shut off just before I got home. Yesterday, we went to the outlets (about a 90 min trip) and it worked for the drive out, but it shut off when I got there. At first I thought my FM modulator was broken, but I also noticed that my cigarette plug was not working. I checked my fuses, and they were all ok. I checked all my connections and they were also ok. Then when I went to take my dog to the vet today I noticed that when I tapped the parking brake, the power came on (for a second) to the cigarette plug. I looked under the dash and noticed that the bundle of wires that runs behind the brake to the fuse block under the hood was rubbing against part of the parking brake. I went to move the wire back and got some sparks and a little smoke. I taped it up for now. Talked to my dealer and they said to bring it in first thing in the AM.

Has anyone else had this problem? ???

Just got my truck back from the dealer. It seems the parking brake pedal cut through 4 wires in the wire bundle. They ran 4 new cables from the fuse block under the hood and moved the bundle further back.

Orange_1 told me that his parking brake pedal was starting to eat away at his wires also. You may want to check yours before the sparks start to fly ;)

Thanks for info will look tomorrow...even though I have a 2002 and down here in flatg land we do not use parking brake.....

But thanks for info....
