Perimeter Light While Backing Up

I was in my AV backing up into a space in a low lit garage. ?I thought it might be a good idea to wire the parimeter lights on the mirrors to the reverse lights. ?As well as put brighter bulbs in those locations.

What is everyone's thoughts, and which one of you electronic guru's is going to tell me how to do it? ? ;D ?WesTexAVY...I am looking right at cha ;)

I am planning on modding the FTDRL and the 4 all on soon, and was wondering if this would be something I could do along those lines. ?I am looking for an 03 mod, but I am sure some 02ers will question this as well.

Whatcha all think?

I've been thinking of the same thing. Maybe a 12 volt flood light mounted up under the rear bumper, pointing sort of down and back a little. A relay driven by the regular backup lights and a cutoff switch might be useful too.

:B: :B:

How about this fantasy?

Mount a driving light on the inside of each storage box cover............Scrap the lock cylinders and adapt a power door lock actuator along with a tailgate support strut ( like they use on hatchbacks ). Add a mercury switch. Now....

Push a button. The covers raise up to full extension ( resembling a DeLorean with open doors ) and the lights turn on automatically, flooding both sides of the Av. ( Downside - you have to manually close each cover :6: )

It's amazing what a couple of Mike's Hard Lemonade's can do for your imagination >:D

Ahh Mike...I was just talking about the existing perimeter lights...not changing my truck into Optimus Prime...Although that would be cool >:D

I am just looking for more lighting to the side. A black truck in a dark garage does not park real well in reverse.

If the problem is backing up in the dark, why do you want the perimiter lights to be brighter? My side view mirrors seem to work just fine.

What you may want to consider is some 50 watt bulbs to replace the back-up bulbs. There have even been posts about placing aux. lights in the steps, as well as under the sail panels.

I will admit the best way to back this beast up is leave the receiver hitch in, and use it as a feeler gauge. >:D Just make sure it's a wall, not someones vehicle. These are rather deceptive machines to back up, though.

Do your perimeter lights turn on when in reverse? I don't think mine do. If they did, it would just be a bit more light to see the cars and curbs beside me.

I have my windows tinted and my truck is dark. So...in a dark garage..I am running blind for the most part. I can see behind me, but I need to see to the side as well.
