Ya know -- I hated those nekkid (WBH) AVs when they first came out but now that I see what they can look like, I like them. I won't get rid of "dressed" AV, but the WBHs aren't bad after all. Good lookin' ride!

yes i hear ya
where to buy and how low to drop

info please!!

Now all we need is a contest as to what is the largest rim fitted to an av!

For lowering hints/tips or discussions, try these threads;

Now you need to buy some tires for those wheels! Have a good time getting wheels fixed or replacing them! Don't worry about warranty on your running gear, you don't have one. Your suspension, brakes, bearings, aren't going to be happy with all that unsprung weight. :D:

Now come on Dan... be nice! Each to their own and while it ain't exactly what I would do to my av either I'm sure we can live and let live.

Dan I know that you almost always comment on these big rim threads so can you answer a fair dinkum question for me (without attacking another members choice)?

I thought with the modern, lighter materials around that there would not be too much weight difference in the larger rims nowadays, are you saying that they are significantly heavier?

BNT,
What i the total circumference of the wheel tire combo. I ask be cause I have 20's on mine with tires that keep it at factory total of 31.6 or whatever.

Dropping options would depend a little on the answer above and if your truck is 4 or 2 wheel drive.

Enjoy

I thought the same thing Skidd, but Sort Truck recently had an article on that very subject. While I don't remember the numbers It was a bigger difference than I expected.

Holy poop! There can't be much rubber there.
OK, here's my .02
If you want to drop the whole truck I would go with the DJM kit or ground force has one as well. Don'y know about Belltech.
If you are more interested in dropping the rear down to get the truck more level I'm pretty sure Belltech has a spring for that.

Have fun

Hey Skidd, hopefully you were kidding about being "nice." I'm not really clear on the "live and let live" comments either. Wheels like that are ridiculous and while I don't really care what everyone else does to their vehicles (it's a good thing for all of us that everyone likes different things), I don't feel any obligation to say nice things about what I consider hideous looking, potentially unsafe vehicles and/or modifications. I don't want to take your comments too seriously (since I'm not exactly sure how you meant them) but if every post needs to be "nice" let me know and I'll head over to the other board and add whatever value I can to their site.

As for the wheel weight, trust me, big, over-sized wheels add real weight to the suspension and degrade its ability to do its job and degrades performance. Sure there are lighter weight wheels but think about the potential risk they represent. Really large wheels are not good for the vehicle or for safety. But since when do people who put "wagon wheels" on their vehicle concern themselves with safety?

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the club! (seriously) It's good to have you here and I hope you get a lot from this forum and enjoy your Avalanche experience. Just because I don't like big wheels shouldn't stop you from enjoying your Av. (y)

MMD is correct about warrenty.... Warrenty is valid up to 20" wheels.... go bigger and most of your running gear warrenty is void....

Same type of issue with the duramax, because of the allison tranny, you cannot run oversize tires and keep the warrenty on the tranny.

There are alot of great mods out there, however some void warrenty, some do not.... I prefer to keep my warrenty intact, once it is over... then let the serious mods begin.

There are some that are not concerned about the warrenty, and want to "push the limit" with thier Av's. However they accept responisbility for anything that ends up happening due to thier mods.

What A Hater
you can keep your POS 2500 4x4 w/ your 2 dollar eagle wheels

FYI i dont like yours either but if you posted a pic of it I would not post that I dont like them I would not post at all ..

It's not about how old you are its how old you act... :B:

Sparky mess up there 24's
thanks for the info

Disclaimer: The following is simply my opinion and has virtually no basis in statistical fact.

People who push the envelope should be applauded, not reprimanded. I think that pushing into new territory with mods to any vehicle is what keeps the over all hobby alive and vibrant. A given mod may not appeal to everyone's sense of beauty. A given mod may void your warranty. If no one ever took a chance though, the hobby (and the industry) would stagnate and die.

As long as the wheels are DOT approved, they are no more unsafe than many other mods out there. All through the 80's (and still in some Hispanic groups) the wheels with virtually no backspacing were a big hit... they were really hard on suspension and steering geometry, but didn't prove to be inherantly unsafe.

BNT- bravo! Nice ride!

MMD- as a fellow dirt guy, you know I love your truck!

BNT, those are sharp! Don't let anything anyone says sway what you think of them, as long as you like them, that's all that matters!

I wish I had the $$ to get 24s, I have 20s on mine, wish I coulda got spinners! >:D

Everyone is different though, some like chrome, some like polished aluminum, some like 18s some like 26s...

Whatever trips your trigger man....make that AV yours though! ;)

Kim

No worries (y) ;)
It's all good

24 makes me able to picture the tire a little easier.
BTW, with my drop kit it is NEVER the tires or wheel wells that bottom out. It is the front or back bumper.

BNT I got ya back man! The bigger the better! Very Sharp. What are they... from the picture they look like Foose Spanks. Keep skatin' on that phat ice! If you ever get tired of them I'd be willing to take them off your hands.

Dude, I didn't call your electrical tape tires POS or your Av. I don't "hate" your wheels or your Av but now I'm not so very happy with your response. I welcomed you to the club. I made some very cogent points about your wheels, your warranty, and your suspension. If you think that's hate you must have a hard time with everyday life.

I do wonder how you know my wheels only cost two bucks a piece. ;D I think it's cute how you got all defensive, lashed out at me and started name calling. :2:

Maybe your next mod ought to be tires for your wheels :D
