I say it's a luxery version of a crew cab. It's all truck!

My buddie refers to the Escalade EXT as a "Sports Luxery Utility Truck" or a SLUT. ;)

The Av to me is the ultimate race track support vehicle.

It can tow a 5000# car trailer with ease.

The bed can occupy all the grubby tires, tools, jacks, and other car stuff without worrying about making a mess of the interior. The deep bed is especially good for tires, and the fact that it all locks up secure is fantastic.

The built-in coolers are good for non-alcoholic refreshment throughout the day, and beer at night.

And, I can take three other drivers in REAL comfort to and from the hotel, restaurant, etc. - so we can leave our track cars locked up at the track at night.

Sure, a pickup could do this, but I'd have to buy a cap or cover, the rear seats wouldn't be as comfortable, and the ride would be more trucklike.

ehahn - what race series are you involved in? I'll be taking the Av and my camper to many NASCAR races to cover the events for AutoRacing1.com

I can't wait to go camping next month. The Av is perfect for storing all kinds of equipment that didn't really fit well in a van.

:cautious: I'm actually a recreational driver at this point - I'm attending high performance driving schools (where you drive your own car) rather than racing wheel to wheel - my track car is too nice to turn a wheel in anger with.

If I do ever end up deciding to race, I'll probably do it in SCCA, in something like the Spec RX-7 or Spec Miata class - if you're gonna race, might as well do it on the cheap.

And there's always the shifter kart option...

The Avalanche is a truck with attitude!

Thats interesting - I am using the Jeep as a support truck for the AV at the dragstrip - did I get this backwards? ;D

Why am I all the sudden invisioning an AV, with giant slick tires on the rear, skiny tires on the front, and a big wing on the back end? ;D
