Over the last couple of days, we have had some snow on the roads and I have noticed a bad thing with the AV. While in 2wd, if I spin just a little bit, the rear end pops as soon as it grabs traction(on a clear, uncovered part of the ground). It only does this if I spin a little bit. Is this a sign that my locking rear end needs some attention or what? Looks like another trip to the dealer. :7:

It almost sounds like the locker functioning. I would not worry about it unless it becomes a constant sound while normal driving. My whole tranny is a bit noisy with clunks, pops, and the like. I am gonna hit 36000 soon, no problems yet.

I have that problem too....especially after eating Mexican food.

Oh, not that popping sound!! Sorry...

My AV will do that sometimes too. I've noticed it more when it's cold out and I take off from a stop.

Could it be the result of flexing in the rear suspension when traction "happens"?
Seems like that has been written up in here before and it has been a problem on GM trucks for several years

Shortly after I brought my AVY home I noticed the same thing. Took it to the dealer and they said the clutch packs weren't releasing properly. They were replaced and I haven't had the noises since

Sounds like it's operating properly to me. :cautious:

My G80'd Blazer knocked REAL BAD when it locked.

My G80'd Av knocks, but not as bad. I attributed that to the additional weight and power dampening the harshness.

If you don't think it's the locker, I've heard a number of problems with G80-or-not, full size GM axles. Unfortunately I have NO_IDEA what the problem is. :-[ :6:
