Nice color coordination! What size boat? We used to have a 96 Horizon 190. Now we have an 07 Horizon 220.

Thank you, although we are Hawkeye fans! Ha.

It's a 98 Horizon RS 18' that my parents bought new.  It has a 5.0L V8 in it though.  She gets up and moves pretty good.

I have been contemplating on getting a bigger boat as an 18' boat does not handle rough water very well at all, and with 6+ adults in the boat it is just too crowded.  Would like at least a 22' boat with a 350 or bigger motor.  Might not be for a few years though and the current boat does it's job.

Can't find the pic, but I towed a bunch of girl scouts in the local Memorial Day parade this year (yeah, I know... this post is almost 2 months late!)

Will post a pic if I can find one.  I think my wife took some pics....

Our 07 horizon 220 has the 350 mag in it. We don't tow it anymore though as we keep it at lake of the ozarks. I love the 350 in it, I think it pulls harder than the 5.0 penta we had in the 190.

Here's my Avy & 1978 Glastron Carlson CVZ-18 boat at this years Classic Glastron meet in Red Wing, MN.  Chris Farley would be proud...I'm almost "Living in a Van, down by the river"   (y)

This was way too much for my Avalanche with 37"s and 3.73 gears
Still waiting for my 4.56.

Trailer and wheel loader together was around 4000kg = nearly 9000 lb!

My week-long vacation trip to Biloxi got postphoned due to Isaac's impending arrival so I opted to head over to Lake Ouachita and take out my Party Barge 25 instead.

For the past 10 years I have been towing this boat with my 1999 5.7L 2WD Suburban quite comfortably.

This was my first time towing with my EXT and all I can say is WOW.

The 6.0L AWD with it's extra 90 hp ready makes a difference!

The Party Barge, 120 hp outboard, trailer, gas and gear weigh in at little over 5000 lbs so it is well within the EXT's range.

The trailer is balanced really well and has a tougue weight of around 500 lbs.

The Suburban with it's leaf springs did not sag in the rear at all but the EXT started to drop in the rear as I lowered the trailer onto the hitch until the Auto Ride kicked in and raised the rear back to normal height.

As you can see in the picture, the truck is sitting normally.

I was surprised that I could see more of the empty trailer through the rear window as I backed down the ramp when in the Suburban.

No big deal as I use my mirrors most of the time anyway to back up but I like to see the trailer bunks as I enter the water to set the trailer at the depth that I like for loading the Party Barge.

I can't see the trailer at all using the mirrors unless the trailer begins to swing to either side as I back down the ramp.

Once I enter the water the trailer is no longer going to swing off center and I lose sight of it.

Next time I plan to drop the tailgate and open the midgate and see if that helps.

A rear camera would obviously help out in this regard and I may have to look into that mod at some point.

Overall I am very pleased and now I just have to see how the Sea-Doo does behind the EXT.

The 2500 tows it really well.  The trailer is 5500lbs empty.  That is why I went with the 2500 (w/3.73).  With all the toys, food, stuff, water, I would guess I add about another 1000-1500 pounds to the tow weight, plus travel trailers are like a cement block compared to a boat of the same weight.  I had the 1/2 ton PU with the 5.3 engine and just wasn't happy with the reserve ooomph.  If your trailer is around 5000lbs or more, I would go to the 3/4 truck.  Stiffer spring, BIGGER brakes, etc. will give you a better safety cushion.  Sorry about such a long response.  When it comes to travel trailers, I see too many people buying the wrong size tow vehicle.  >:D >:D

New to the forum here. I sort of made that mistake. Bought a boat last year (1900 Regal Bow Rider) and towed it with my Wrangler 4dr. The Wrangler had a hell of a time. After months of searching the market, I discovered a local used car dealer selling an 02 Avy. Bought it, and love it. Tows the boat without worry.  With tower, fuel and adequet adult beverages (and bottled water), I estimate around 4600lbs.
