Well the subject says it all the Avalanche has just had one more price increase that is the 4th one this year. The base price went up about 120 bucks so now the base price on a 2003 Avalanche 1500 4x4 is $35,150.00
and the base price on a 2003 Avalanche 1500 2WD is $32,150.00

Yup this is alarming IMO. The Z71 (cladded I believe) starts at $36.8K, $2K more than what it was when we got our Av :7:. Then dealerships aren't accepting used vehicles very well either. Sadly, I don't think I'll be getting an Av for myself like AvaLance anytime soon :C:.

when i bought my 2002 z71 it lsted at $37,800+/- now it is almost $42,000!!!!
whats sells vehicle more?
1. fair price
2. large rebates
3. low financing

when gm had $4000.00 rebates i thought lets go check it out! but it was still much more than what i paid even if i got a similar deal (1000.00 below invoice plus 1000.00 rebate)

they keep raising prices to offset rebates & financing.
i thought i had read somewhere that Lutz had said that base prices needed to be lower and that vehicle were becoming to expensive?

They are getting ridiculous. If my AV were to get totaled right now...I could not replace it. :cautious:

Yup. This is why I purchased my '02 Av toward the end of August 2002, even though I knew the '03 s were gonna be out soon. I would not have been able to afford it. Period. I love some of the new features, but it is just so far out of reach. We have 2 Delco plants around here, and these guys get paid rediculously so! Even if they get laid off, they get 95% of their pay for 6 months! No wonder they charge so much!

When I purchased my AV it had an MSRP of $39,656.00 an AV all most the same I just added XM Radio and Stainless Steel Steps is $43,432.00  an AV just like my 02 will still be over 42K though

CoAV this is just an Idea when you get to be 16 look at used AV's that is one way to go you can get a nice AV for less then a new one.

When I compared the MSRP of my 2002 Z71 Avalanche, it seemed obvious to me that the price of the Avalanche was purposely held low in order to guarantee sales of the new model. I expected that there would be a large increase for 2003. The same thing happened when I bought a 1995 Yukon (first year), 1996 saw a major price increase. It did not make sense to me that a 2002 Avalanche would be almost $5K cheaper than a similarly equipped Suburban/Yukon XL. Looks like, in ths case anyway, it paid to jump in early. I like some of the options on the 2003, and I like the 0% financing for 60 months, but I really like the price I paid to get a 2002!

I think you are on to something. If you look back at the car/truck reviews, before the 2002 AV went into production, the car/truck magazines had the suggest base price prediction about 10 K more than the AV was originally priced at introduction. That's one reason I bought my 2002 Z66 AV. I saw it as a heck of a deal. With rebates and all, only about 5 K more than I paid for my GM van 6 years earlier.

Yep! Those laborers are certainly ripping off the company. Just think, all that money could be going in to executive bonuses rather than their paycheck.
