Question About Battery

I may need to disconnect my battery to do some add-ons. The owners manual has warnings about the airbag system on the page about disconnecting the battery.

It says for more information consule the service manual and give links on where to order one (Yea right at $120). Chiltons or Haynes doesn't have one avaliable yet.

So my question is:
Is there any special tricks or gotha's I should know about when disconnecting the battery?

Anything extra that needs to be done with the air bag system?

I think it's if you DON'T disconnect you battery that you've got to be really careful probing around in the electrical system . . one wrong move and . . . KABLAM . . . not a pretty sight . . explain that to the spouse!

Same here, I have disconnected the battery several times and on one occassion the battery went completly dead, all with no air bag problems.

Good luck.

The only suggestion I have is disconnect the Negative first and always reconnect the negative last. As far as the air bag goes dont worry bout it too much - unless you are working in the steering column area in which case the negative cable should be removed, but if you are working on electrical things or adding switchs or wiring and you are not sure exactly which circuits you are probing be careful and when testing for power with a test light do not poke through the wire always back probe at a connector.
