Question On Center Console

In the center console, next to the change holder there is something that looks like a punch out for a lighter or something at least round.

Anybody have any ideas what it is for and what is (or isn't) behind it?

I believe that on other GM trucks sharing the same console, it is a power port (for cell phones and stuff)

Some people run wires or 12 volt accessory outlets there. It's pretty much a dummy hole that isn't used on our model, but it's handy when adding things such as a CD changer MP3 player, etc.
