:help:

Or for anyone else that has painted their WBH.  I wanted to see what your AVYs look like in the "after" stage. I saw blackbeauty's (well the few pics that still show up anway) and was curious how different it looks with retaining your original parts vs getting the EXT version.  I plan to get the EXT 3rd brake light and spoiler eventually, but am focusing on painting the sail panels and the storage lids first.  There is a place here in Arlington (TX) that I have seen some of their work and it looks good.  They simply smooth (to a certain extent) the original parts and then paint them.  I was wondering if I would be better off getting the parts off a salvaged (picture totalled donor EXT) vs the not totally smooth Chevy parts.  Anyone who has any pics they want to share or words of wisdom, please feel free.

not a WBH, but some info that might help...

if you get just the brake light, that section doesn't match up perfect with the sail panels.? It will bolt into place, but there will be a gap on the lower corner of each end.

by just swapping the light section, you get this:

info about the EXT swap...

It's holding up quite well. I suppose as well if not better than my factory paint( fine scratches, swirl marks, water spots...etc).  If I get some good weather this weekend I plan on washing the AV and I'll get some photos to compare to when I first got it painted.  If I had it to do all over again I would have purchased the complete EXT kit.  If for nothing else just for the KOOL 3rd brake light.

I think serveral members have been able to find the complete EXT kits on Ebay for a good price 1K or less.  I'm not sure what the painting cost typically runs, but I'm sure it can't be that expensive.  Prep, Sanding and painting on regular cladding isn't an easy task, you have to make sure that you get someone that knows what they are doing.

As far as the pics on my post...yeah MSN screwd me. But I'll try to get comparison pictures once I clean the BB up.

$7-800, usually for the paint.  I was lucky and they only were available in black.
