Has anyone installed the R&D Headlight controller to keep the low beams on when you turn on the high beams on the 2500.

I just received mine in the mail today and the instructions say "NOT FOR HEAVYDUTY 8.1 AND DIESEL MODELS".

Also, does anyone think that their brights are not as bright with this mod.

I haven't heard about the 2500 issue, but I have heard that your broghts will not be as bright unde the all 4 lights R&D mod. Last time it came up, it was explained that the harness for your lights is the culprit. If you upgrade to a heavy-duty light harness, you won't see the drop. Keep in mind with all 4 lights on, you are drawing around 20 amps through the harness (55W x 2 + 65W x 2 = 240W, 240W / 12V = 20A). You are likely suffering from too much impedance on an undersized conductor (wire). By increasing the gauge of the wire, it will carry more current due to more conductive area offering less resistance or impedance. At least that's how I remember it.

I have the R&D Headlight controller on my 1500 and I can not tell that the highbeams got dimmer. I was totally amazed by how bright things were after the controller. I drive my truck everynight to work so I should be used to it after nine months. I am totally pleased with it and have told everyone I know with a Chevy truck.

Will this controller keep all the lights on? DRL's, fogs, high and low? If so, I want it.

No. It's just to leave the lows on when you hit your highs. Keep in mind, the fogs go off when your highs are on. It would be best to save your $$$ and do the simple all headlights on mod. All you do is ground the yellow wire in the headlight wire loom and viola - all 4 lights on with the highs.

Wait a sec, it's that simple? Could you give me the link to the instructions? I'm searching all over and I haven't found it yet.
I was thinking that I had to do these mods seperate. I was looking for the single wire high beam mod, then the DRL mod then I was thinking of getting the R&D to complete it.

I have the R&D unit... All 4 are as bright as ever... There are seperate circuits for the lows and highs, hence seperate relays... The controller just bridges the two low amp circuits when the highs are activated through it's own relay...

When you click the highs off, you hear 2 clicks from under the hood... One for the high beam circuit, and one for the R&D relay... The lows relay will stay engaged until you turn off the lights...

I don't think it's at all possible for the highs to share the same circuit as the lows... Otherwise all 4 would be on always with no controller...

i.e. they have seperate relays, low amp input, and high amp output...
