Radio/CD Not Working?

I have a 2003 with the base radio.
it will turn on and let me select stations and play a CD but no sound comes through the speakers.
Its like it is on mute.

Any Ideas?

Pull the fuse and reinsert it. Sound should come back.

If you have steering wheel controls,make sure you didn't accidentaly hit the "talk" button on the wheel. It's right above the "prog" button...It functions very much like a mute

I in fact use it EXACTLY like a mute button, but I think that's because I don't have OnStar. I had that it probably mute's the radio and turns OnStar on, if you have it.

Update:
now radio working just fine.
Must be gremlins.

I just got my Avalanche and have the same problem. I believe I accidently hit the phone button on the steering wheel instead of the button to show the odometer. After that the radio and CD player act like they are working but no sound. Can hear them through the rear head phones. I tried turning the phone button on and off and replacing the fuses. I can get into the dealer for 2 days. Any ideas from anyone?
