Radio Locks For No Reason....

My wife and I went to dinner tonight and when we came out about an hour later, the radio security system had locked for no apparent reason. Battery seemed fine. I went thru the unlock procedure and all was fine. But I am mystified as to why (other than normal "can't be explained - gremlins") this happened. Anyone?

Happened to me twice now in six months, I don't know why. Had the same radio in my old Blazer, and it never happened in 3.5 years.

The dealer put in one of those anti-hotwire/anti-carjack systems which kills the ignition if you don't do things with the right timing. The second time it happened was just after I screwed up and triggered it. When I reset it and started properly, I noticed the radio had locked. I wonder if that had something to do with it. ???

Do you have an aftermarket or dealer installed security system in yours?

It's strictly stock right now. So I know of no reason why it should do this unless there is some brief interrupt in battery power while it was sitting - or - there's a problem with the radio/security system itself. Neither one is acceptable if this keeps happening. So far, just this once, but I've only got 650 miles and 2 weeks experience on it.

Just for grins, I'll check the tightness of the batt. cables. Other than that, I'll have to wait for a reoccurrence.

I have had my AV for about 10 Months. About every 2 to 4 weeks I will start my AV and the radio says ?LOC? and I have to enter my lock code to unlock the radio and then reset the time. The dealer replaced the radio a few moths ago, but I still have the same problem.
It appears to me that the power must be interrupted to the radio causing the security lock to turn on. This happens when parking as little as 30 minutes or as long as 24 hours.
I will advise the dealer at the next oil change. Sometimes the clock is only off by a few minutes, and sometimes by two hours.
If anyone knows what could be causing the ?power interruption? please let me know, so I can help the dealer figure out the problem.

Thanks. Dirk :B:
