Realistic Increase in Towing Performance?

I have an 03 AV with 5.3 and 4.10 gears.  It is stock and I love it except I wish I had a bit more power for towing.  My trailer is an 05 Coachmen, 27', UVW=4600 lbs. (on the sticker).  I don't tow often but am usually at 6000' plus.  Up a lot of grades, I find myself dropping to 2nd gear a lot to try to maintain 40-50mph (some passes I have to drop to first).  I have been considering a different tow vehicle but really like mine and don't tow more than a few times a year.  I was wondering what suggestions people might have that would increase performance and still maintain reliability and decent mileage.  Is forced induction a good option for towing?  Would intake, exhaust and chip help much?
Thanks for your input.

FI can be a good option if the expense doesn't run you off.  You will most likely want a system that's intercooled for towing.
