How are you fellows doing your rear diff fluid changes? Draining through the plug, or pulling the cover? Just curious.

Blue, I just changed mine. Just turned 13K. Take a nice drive warm her up good. And pull the plug, if you want to look at the inners you will have to uncover it. I used Mobil-1 75 W 95 my old oil was very clean and no metal shavings on the magnet thats in the drain plug. Very easy!!!!!!!!!!! (y)

Yeah, thats exactly what I planned on doing. The fact that it has a magnet on the drain plug is what really sold me on the idea, I figure there would probably be very little loose debris left elsewhere in the diff. I still like to hear from others though. :D

I will be pulling the cover on the first service, just to check it out visually. I'm a bit anal about rearends....geez does that sound right?LOL

Since when have they put a magnet on the plug?

I thought it was still only the round magnet with the hole in it on the cover?

When I had the rear serviced yesterday...they did remove the cover as well.....I noticed this right away...I was wondering how they were going to drain the oil, and as I looked on I could see them work and remove the cover....the perks of seeing them work on your rig, is that you can visually see how they do things.... :B:
