Rear Seat Damage

Yesterday I folded my rear seats into the normal seating position, when I noticed that there were impresions on the seats. Apparently made by the hinges that allows the bottom seat to flip forward. :cautious: I would think that enough "changing" or even a heavy load in that area (like me climbing in to take out the window) would cause real damage. I have the cloth seats, but I would imagine that those with leather would be even more concerned. Has anybody else noticed this?

I have leather, and while a impression does form when I had heavy things back there for a while, it did come out. I have been back there sitting on the midgate while installing my rear lights and working to clean the seals many times, and have not cut the seats or had any damage occur. I think things will be fine.

I have leather also and have noticed the indentations in the seats when the midgate has been down for a while with a load on the midgate. The indentations go away.

The leather seats are surprisingly strong. Once, after taking the Av for a spin, I realized a flat-head screwdriver was still in my back pocket (the handle was in the pocket, the blade was sticking out!). ?:( I went back to the Av to check out the seat -- huge mark, but no cut! The indentation has since gone away. ?:)

This was the first comment my wife made when we brought our new Av home:

"You're gonna have to stop carrying all kinds of tools and sharp crap in your hip pockets now... I ain't having holes in my leather from your screwdriver!"

(We joke that it is "her leather" 'cause at the dealership she agreed to pay up the difference out of her paychecks to upgrade to the full-tilt leather seats... ...not like we have separate accounts or anything, just an inside joke.)

I have a quarter moon crease in my fold down arm rest/ console on the back seat that has two dimples in the leather that look like they almost went through. It happened after hauling a heavy load and I have no idea what caused it. It has not gone away  and I now place a towel under this section when I drop the mid-gate.
