Ok, I have a couple of questions regarding the full rear window decals:

#1: Are they legal to have on your truck in TX?

#2: Will the window defroster peel it off when you have it running?

I was wanting to get one of the checkered flag decals that cover the entire rear window but still let's you see out.

;D

Where can you buy the full size rear window decals.

Thanks Ross

I've seen a bunch of them around Houston, so I would assume they are legal. You can pretty much put anything on your back window in Texas and not have problems with the law.
My neighbor drove around for 3 months with plastic on his back window before he got it replaced (broken window) and never had problems.

weco: You can do a search on the net for rear window decals and order them online. Or you can go to race shops in your area, or custom car shops and probably find them there.

Thanks Pendlum, I know that you're required to have both front and back license plates in TX, and you can have your windows tinted only to a certain darkness so I wanted to make sure it was ok to put a decal on before I spend money on one.

wonder

Usually in most states it is legal to cover the back window as long as you have two side mirrors. Look at box trucks and work vans with panel windows. You just need to show you can see behind you without the window.

As far as the rear window defroster harming the decal, don't worry about it. I've had mine in for about 3 months now and have used the defroster several times with no problems. The info sheet that comes wit the decal even states that there are no concerns with using the defrosters. They do say to avoid using a ice scraper. I got mine from a guy on ebay for 60 bucks.

Had mine on since end of last winter..no problem with defroster...one problem..not really a problem is that about half the design is lost because our windows are so small, make ssre you line it up the way you want before the cut...also ensure that no 2 glas scapes look the sam on an AV because no two people line them up the same ;D

Another thought on the rear window decal. When the window gets wet all the little holes fill up and you can't see squat thru the window. Anyone found a solution to this?

Put mine on today. Got one at Discount Auto for 39.88.
It's the American Flag (y) It's not made by Glascape, but looks good. The only thing, is have patience. A lot of trimming.

Ok, another question for those who've put a rear window decal on...........did you take the window out and lay it on the decal and trim away?

What process did ya'll use? (Or did you have someone else do it?)

;D

How about a towel >:D or just drive like a bat out of He#%...or better yet how about the sportwing spoiler ;D keeps more rain off your back window...MOD on ;)

Yup, take that puppy out that's why it was made that way ;) much easier to work with on a bench than standing up in the bed of the AV

But Bubba, I studied yours for hours, made minute measurements and now Houston Texas has a exact duplicate of the Bubba back window! ;D but they do say mimicry is the sincerest form of flattery.

Seriously though make sure that the scene that you pick out can be shown in as little as 1/3 of the mural. I have over half of my American flag decal left over after mounting on my Av. Another advantage, with our removeable window I did my on the kitchen table.

I have turned on the rear window defrost when in motion, that worked somewhat. But since our window is removable I usually just jump into the back seat and pop the window tilting the top into the truck leaving the bottom in the channel and give it a quick wipe with a small hand towel that I keep in the truck. How often? Rarely, the overhang keeps it pretty dry.

I've been cloned???...here is a thought for the extra pieces of the glass scape, I am going to try and install sail windows, and cover them with some of the left over decal....don't know how it will turn out??? backup plan is 2 club decals on the sail windows ;D

Wonder91178,

I laid the decal out on the floor, postioned the window over it untill I liked what I saw, then rough trimed around the outside of the window. I then stuck the slightly larger then needed decal to the Very clean window, squeeged it to the window so that it was perfectly smooth, then I ran a new razor knife around the inside edge of the window moulding to create a perfect fit. The whole installition took a half hour at the most. Very easy

I bought an American Flag decal at Discount Auto. It's not made by Glasscape, but looks good. It was only $38.88. I figured that i would rather try ane, at this price, incase I messed up, but it came out great. They also had the checkered flag, but those were the only 2 options.
I'm in Orlando, Fl, I don't know if they all are offering the same deal.
Hope this helps :)

Geez, would love to get a rear window decal for that price, I found a place that sells'em in Fort Worth, but I haven't checked prices.

Might have to find a hook up in Orlando.....hehe. >:D

I was wondering if anyone has the Patriot back one one the Light Pewter Av ??? I like the way that one looks and think it would go good with the light pewter color of the truck cause of the eagle. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks,
Adam

Because our qindows are so small I think you will lose most of the Eagle design, that's why several of us went with the plain flag :B:
