Removing The Overhead Console???

hey.. does anyone know how to remove the overhead console? i can only see one screw/bolt holding it in and find it hard to believe that's it... if it makes any difference, i've got the 1500, no sunroof...

to be honest, i haven't really tried yet, but with my past modding experience(the hole drilled into the gas tank on last car), i figured i'd come to the experts first rather then breaking something on my own.. hehe..

To remove the overhead console ... There is one screw toward the front and two clips toward the back. Once you take the screw out, just gently pull down, with a bit of rocking motion, and the console will come down. Diconnect the wires for the map lights and you can get the whole console out of the way.

? i have a Z-66, no sunroof, with the small overhead console. ?if i remember correctly, all you need to do is remove the one screw. ?once the screw is removed the console should slide to the rear of the truck releasing the holding tabs located at the backside closest to the windshield.


i see goo just barely beat to the punch. he says to pull it down. i knew it was either down or back. sorry!

I've got a 2003 2500 with a sunroof and I want to remove the overhead console (it has a small storage compartment with Homelink switches, two overhead lights, and the sunroof switch).

I'm going to hardwire in my V1 radar detector (the best one out there, trust me on this) and need to get to a hot wire. Does anyone know if this overhead console is the same as the 2002's?
