Removing Z71 Stickers

Use a blow dryer to soften them a bit and peel them slowly. They'll come off in one piece with no trouble and should be new enough to not leave any residue behind. Are you going to replace them with something else?
 
I removed my 4X4 stickers from my 2500. Used the wife's hair dryer to soften them up and peeled em off. Then applied a little Zaino wax and that was it... Very easy.

I too removed mine without any trouble. If any residue is left behind 3M makes an adhesive remover for automotive applications that works great. I picked up a can at a local autoparts store. If you use it, I would wax the area for sure.
 
Do you think the hairdryer method would work for the ugly dealer stickers? I think advertising my dealer 3 times is a bit much and I'd prefer to get his cheap sticker off my paint. :8:
 
I removed the dealer sticker also. Still no problem. I can't stand any dealer stuff on my ride! They made their money off of me, why should I do something for them? ;)

the hairdryer should work to remove the dealer sticker. I have been lucky my dealer used the cheap plastice license plate holders. Of course they came off 5 minutes after being home for the first time.

BTW the hair dryer and ice cubes work real good for removing little dings in the body.


 
That was the first thing I did on my first weekend of ownership. It was a little cold out, but the whole dealer sticker came off fairly easily. I agree, with you guys, they didn't concede any fees to me for advertising expenses so why leave it there. We, as buyers, should be able to charge the dealer for advertising for them!

One plastic dealer emblem, one front dealer plate, and two dealer license plate frames in the trash within a few hours of bringing the Av home.

The only one that was a bit of trouble was the emblem - put on with double sided foam tape. But, it must not have been pressed on too well, because all but a small part came off with no residue. A bit of WD-40 got the residue, and it then got waxed.

Yep . . . no dealer ads on my Av . . .

Now how do I get rid of the ugly warning stickers on the sun visors . . .
 
Now getting the warning stickers off the sun visors would be great. It appears the material will come off with the sticker if you try to remove.

Anyone??
 
That one is tough....try heat and 3M adhesive remover....check for color fastness....who knows what it will look like underneath.

Take the hairdryer and heat the spot up where the ding is. ?It needs to be hot like 115 degree Las Vegas hot(truck body temp will be 150+ degrees). ?When the spot is nice and hot(don't touch it, it's hot :2: ) apply the ice cube to the ding. ?The thermal shock should cause the metal to spring back into shape removing the ding. ?The key is the heat, it will take some practice finding out how much heat you need to get it to "pop".

Better than risk the damage one can imagine would result if this didn't work out just perfectly, how about Dave making some precise sized CAFCNA rectangular stickers that would apply right over these warnings? Dave?

Same thing for me in San Diego with the 4x4 stickers. I was surprised how easy they were able to be removed!

This was covered in an earlier topic, and no one had good results. :(

Stream Line Design (http://www.streamlinedesign.com/avalanche/index.html) had promised us a AV label to go over the nasty yellow visor warnings. But, I think their lawyers got to them. :8: :8:

So, after a few months of waiting, I got some nice stickons from an auto parts store. Just remember to put these on upside down. :cool:

Betty Bop in leather looks real good, Nice & Naughty :rolleyes:
Tweety Bird is also better than the nasty yellows.

I removed my Z-71 stickers to find...razor (I assume) knife marks under where the sticker was and somewhat in the shape the sticker was...isn't THAT special!!! :8: :7: :8: :B:

It appears the moral of this thread is, if you try to remove warning stickers, you will screw up you visors. So live with them.

Keep in mind the stickers are like the tags on a mattress - it is illegal to remove - and it probably voids the warranty ;D
