Ride heigth on Z71

Do all the 04 Z71s come with the same suspension, drivetrain, transmission, rear end and ultimately have the same ride height? I have noticed a definite difference in the ride height on my 04 AV compared to my 03 Ford FX4. Thanks.

I know when I go to have work on my 02 Z71 they ask what suspension is on the truck.

1. Z71 has tuned shocks
2. Z66 load leveling
3. adjustable air ride

the main difference on bow tie trucks to the AV is the AV's body saddles the frame (dose not sit on top of it)
lower center of gravity(than what could be)
AND smaller tire fit on Equal inches of lift.

I was told that my new '04 Z71 was 2" higher than the standard AV by my salesman.

Any 4x4 sits higher than a 2x4, i'm pretty sure. I don't think there is any type of lift with the Z71's.... Too bad you can't actually see a visible offroad package difference like the ZR2 and regular S-10 & Blazer.

When I purchased my AV, I compared it side by side with a Z66. The Z71 was a couple of inches higher, but unless you measured, you wouldn't notice.

I have been driving a plain AV for the past two years and upgraded to a Z71. The height difference was immediatley noticable to me. But for the non-AV owner I think you would be right.

I believe you?re asking if your 04 Z71 has a different ride height then other 04 Z71?s and the answer is no. However, as a general rule of thumb, Ford 4X4?s have a noticeably higher ride height then Chevy 4X4?s.

I drove an '02 1500 4x4 for exactly 3 years, even with the same wheel size my '04 Z71 is slightly higher. Here's a photo of both with stock wheels which is about 2" diameter difference meaning the wheels account for about one inch in height.
